In the past 2 years I have developed a severe allergy to pork. I can't even eat things that have been grilled on the same grill as pork. I get violently ill. I know that Disney is very accomadating but are they THAT accomadting. I plan on eating steak and chicken but I can't eat eggs that were cooked on the same grill as bacon/sausage. I assume they can accomadte Kosher diets - so I will I be OK?

Hi and :welcome: to disABILITIES!

When you make reservations, tell the agent that you have a severe food allergy. When you get to the restaurant, remind the person at the podium that there should be a note about allergies on your reservation.

Once you are seated, a chef should come out and talk to you. If it is a buffet, you will be given a tour and told what is safe. If it is table service the chef will tell you what is or is not safe on the menu. They will take extra precautions when cooking your food. They are very good about cross-contamination and will take precutions based on your needs.

If you are going to a quick serve restaurant, ask to speak to a manager and again you will be taken care of.

Disney does not want people getting sick; they will spend less money. :duck:

You also might want to look at the disABILTITES FAQ (see the link in my signature) especially the parts of Page 4 that deal with diet.

 My cousin has a very severe fish allergy, so he would definitely know your pain. They put fish in everything!

I invited him over for dinner when I got my first apartment after college, and was very pleased with the fish free meal I made him. Turns out the salad dressing had fish in it :scared1: He recognized right off the bat, because apparently alot of creamy dressings have fish in them (look at the labels to Caesar dressing) That and he loves shell-fish but they make alot of imitation shell-fish with fish so thats out as well.

Good Luck with your trip! As with what the above poster said, you'll probably find Disney more prepared than most places :wizard:

When you make your ADRs you will be given phone numbers for various chefs. Because you have an unusual allergy that requires extra precautions, call at least 72 hrs. ahead of your visit to discuss your allergy with the the various chefs so they have time to do any special prep work necessary, whether it's getting new pans or bringing in kosher meals to ensure your safety. CS might be a little trickier. Look over the menus to see if they have any pork items and you can avoid those places altogether. A few CS offer kosher meals. Cosmic Rays in MK is one that comes to mind. Don't forget to carry your meds with you everywhere. Disney does a great job with food allergies, but there's always a chance of a goof-up.

I had an adolescent allergy to pork and you have my commiseration! So many things have random pork products it them and it sucks! I got lucky and outgrew mine. Hope you do the same! :flower3:

I am 40 years old. I grew into the allergy. Somehow I don't think I will grow back out of it.

just a note that the kosher meals are premade and some are lacking in the taste department.
