Strange Add-On Question

Need opinions here:

DW and I currently have 150 pts @ SSR. We would like to add 50 more at some point in the future. We would do it tomorrow, but aren't sure that we will make it back to WDW before our next planned trip in Dec (not looking good anyway). That being said, and I know this may be a dumb question, but am I in any danger of Disney not having any points available at SSR in say, a year?? I am assuming Disney has existing inventory (limited?) and buys inventory back all the time, correct? Thus the ROFR... My logic on this is rather then giving Disney my money right now and banking the 50 new points into the 2008 use year, I would hold my money, draw a little interest on it, and then buy 50 points @ SSR next year. Any thoughts??

I wouldn't worry about it. Take yor time and buy when you're ready.

If Disney "runs out" of SSR points for your use year (which is highly unlikely, IMHO), you can always buy resale.

You may have to wait for your UY, as SSR is getting close to selling out, but Dis will always have points for you to purchase. Since Dis cuts you no breaks for anything under 100-160 points, buying now ensures you probably won't have to wait on points for your UY and locks in the price per point today. A $2 increase would exceed what you'd earn on an investment.

However, if you wait until next year, you won't have to pay '08 MFs, which will save you about $210. If you truly don't need the points and banking points into next year really doesn't matter, I'd probably just wait or....

...look for a stripped contract on-line. If you don't need the points and time isn't an issue, you could get a great price and more than likely get the seller to pay both closing costs and MFs since there are no points to use until next year. I bet if you find a contract with your UY that's stripped, you could probably get 10 - 15 more points for the same price. Just a thought.

Hi, neighbor! We are just down the road from you near New Market. I don't think you have anything to worry about by waiting. THe only concern would be if they have your desired use year, and as the previous poster said, you could avoid some maintenance fees by waiting.
