Storytellers Question

Storytellers is the last character meal we've yet to do, and I'd like to make PS arrangements for our Jan trip. A couple of questions (yes, I could ask Dis Dining, but they've given me too many wrong answers in the past, so I'm asking the REAL experts - ya'll! )

Are the characters at Storytellers for both breakfast and lunch?

Does the breakfast buffet include Mickey waffles (a must-have for us!)?

Do they offer a lunch buffet as well, or is it just off the menu?

Characters are only for breakfast.

I think you have to ask the server for the waffles - not sure if they have them on the actual buffet tables like they do at Goofy's.

Only a breakfast buffet. Lunch and dinner are off the menu only (and, by the way, I really enjoyed their lunch menu offerings - good food!).

The character meal is ONLY at breakfast.

Their last seating time is at 11:30, but you can ONLY order off the buffet at that time.

Chip and Dale don't come out after 10:30, according to our hostess last December; since our seating was at 11:30, I missed my huevos rancheros from the menu AND the main characters of the meal!

I think there were Mickey waffles; they brought them out to us even though we could only have the buffet. I don't much care for Mickey waffles so it wasn't a big deal to us, but I do believe I have a pic of the waffle.

Yay! Have fun! I love those character buffets, and I don't even have kids! I am just a big kid at heart!

I think you have to ask the server for the waffles - not sure if they have them on the actual buffet tables like they do at Goofy's.

Yes, they are made to order so if you're having the buffet you need to ask. More than likely the server will ask you if you want waffles - that's been our experience the last couple of times.

Just correcting my esteemed colleague Sherry - they do serve a buffet at dinner - with no characters. Only lunch is off the menu.

They have their "famous" Corn Chowder on the dinner buffet.

Really? That's great!! I was told that there was no dinner buffet. In fact, I think there was a character buffet thread on DISboards quite a while back (one of the many!!), and I stated that I thought the buffet lasted beyond breakfast, and someone corrected me and said no, it was only breakfast. I guess that person was specifically referring to the character buffet, and I was just referring to the general buffet, and our signals were mixed! And of course, when we were there in October, we only ate lunch there. But that's great if they still do a buffet for dinner! Anyway, I would be interested to see the Storytellers dinner buffet choices and how they compare to the Goofy's Kitchen dinner buffet selections, which I wasn't that thrilled with (I like the GK breakfast better than their dinner). If they have things that I like, I would like to try their dinner buffet.

Thanks for that update, Nancy! It's good info to have, because I suspect other people were under the same misconception that I was about the buffet at Storytellers!

It's been a couple of years since we've been there so maybe it's changed but when we went for dinner we had a choice of the buffet or the menu. I think that's maybe what you were saying but just wanted to clarify that you can choose which one you want at dinner (unless of course it's changed, in which case just ignore me )

LavPeach - you are correct - they do give you the OPTION to have buffet or menu.

That is what I was saying - the correction was to the statement that there was no dinner buffet - only a dinner menu.

That's why we like Storytellers - everyone gets to choose and no one goes hungry!

YMP - yeah, i thought that's what you were saying - just wanted to clarify in case someone misunderstood.

I love storytellers but am sad that the dessert we got about 5-6 years ago is no longer available. They had a peanut butter chocolate banana creme brulee that was really yummy. The last time we were there we asked about it and the waitress looked at us like we were crazy.

Sherry - we preferred the Storyteller's dinner buffet over the Goofy's Kitchen dinner buffet (I mean foodwise as there are no characters at the Storyteller's dinner). The corn chowder is really good! There are fewer choices than at Goofy's, but they seem to be better choices (I think Goofy's has so many because there are so many kid's things). There were a couple of meats, really good mased potatoes, salads, veggie side dishes, some desserts - and a REALLY good bread pudding with sauce They bring you fresh bread and butter to the table too (a couple of different breads and corn muffins) which was really great.

That's good to know. Had I known that there was, indeed, still a dinner buffet at Storytellers, I would have probably tried to eat there in October. I LOVE Goofy's, and I would venture to say that they have more characters out and about for their dinner buffet than they do for their breakfast meal, but, for whatever reason, I just could not get find too many things I wanted to eat for dinner. I know it's a matter of personal taste, and other people LOVE the Goofy's dinner buffet selections. For me, a good buffet would be one that has many choices and many dishes that I want to eat (even if I don't have room for them in my tummy!). I want to be able to look at the displays and say, "Okay...I want that and I want that...oh, and I am definitely coming back for seconds on that...." And I overload my plate with half of the dishes! At Goofy's, I found myself skipping a lot of the dinner food because very little of it appealed to me! (Maybe it was just my mood that day!) At Goofy's breakfast, however, there are many things I could and do eat! I have no problem loading up the plate because they have so much to chooose from that I like. But if Storytellers has better choices (even if not as many), then it might be worth looking into next time.
