for our first trip to universal orlando, we will be staying onsite and have fotl access. are there any rides, shows, etc. where we will miss the storylines, or things in the queues that maybe we would want to see? in other words, should we stand in the regular line in order to enhance our enjoyment of the ride?

Right at the top of my head I can think of Men in Black, Dueling Dragons and to an extend Spiderman. However, I would not wait more than 15 mins so that I get the chance to see extra theming.

Definitely Dueling Dragons. Do the queue and then go back out if the line is too long and take express but at least do the queue once.

those three best set up the story. my favorite queue at both parks is Jaws, because the television station is the greatest piece of comedy.

Don't forget Revenge of the Mummy! You could miss a lot of cool stuff if you don't do that one!

What have I missed? I've never done that one!

Me either! I didnt know it was different. I thought MIB was the same now? The elevator part when you entered is no longer there right? When did they change that I know its a while now.:confused3

ROTM you miss a lot of artifacts from the movie, some really cool egypt stuff, and a chance to blow air up someones leg...thats about it.
MIB, the elevator is still used...just not on slow days, the only time you really miss anything on that ride is if you go single riders. ET you miss seeing Bartanicus and you miss exposure to that great smell.
Dudley Do-Right you miss the talking heads....Doom you miss the awesome Doombots.
JAWS is hilarious. I love when the line is 30 minutes.......they show the part with Quint getting thrown up....I sat on the floor Friday before New Years giggling like a school girl for five minutes straight......everyone looking at me like I was insane.

Spiderman actually sets up the whole backstory to the ride in a video which FOTLers miss. Still an amazing ride no matter, but to understand what's going on you really need to see the video. In addition, if you are a fan of the comics/cartoons, the detail that went into recreating the Daily Bugle offices is incredible, lots of "easter eggs."

Although they do very little to explain the story line (as there basically is no story), I always enjoy the videos in Dr. Doom. They're done in the style of 1940s/1950s Nazi/Soviet propaganda films.

ROTM has videos that set up the backstory--the climax of the ride and the final joke at the end make a bit more sense if you have seen them, but I don't think they are essential. The theming is cool, tho, if the line is not more than 10 minutes and you can basically walk right through.

Wow now I don t know what to do when we go in June.Do we get excited because we get to use Express Pass or sad because we will miss out on the queues.Something tells me I will get more excited about Express when the waits are long and the temp is 110.

You're right, of course, but the Express line in Spiderman is actually cool too, especially when you go through the darkroom and pass the file cabinets.

I agree with Figment.....Spidey has "some" to see...you walk thru the Daily Bugle. We were there in June and did not stand in one regular line, and we had a blast! Going back twice this year! Going in 3 weeks, staying onsite, and we plan to go thru the regular queues, because I want to see what I missed in the summer. I'll try to remember to post if I "missed anything"...but we were all pleased with our EP. (Hard not to chuckle at the family STILL standing in regular line when you're walking thru EP line for the 4th time)
