This is what we plan to use at scouts on Wednesday:
LEFTy the Forgetful Elf
Rules: Left = pass gift left, Right=pass gift right, Skip = pass to the right but skip one person. Listen carefully for Right, Left and Skip
There was a beautiful new coat of snow at the North Pole. It was the week before Christmas and Santa was going over his list. There were a few names LEFT on the list that Santa had to find the gifts for yet. He didnt want to SKIP anyone and needed to finish filling up his sacks.
Santa went to his workshop to see if he could fill the list. To his surprise there were no gifts LEFT in the workshop. He headed to the warehouse and no gifts LEFT there either. Santa wondered, where could all the presents be? He ran RIGHT to the elfs, where have all the gifts gone asked Santa.
All the elfs looked puzzled and LEFT for the workshop RIGHT away to help Santa find the RIGHT presents, except for one little elf, named LEFTy, who SKIPped RIGHT outside. Santa wondered where the LEFTy the elf was SKIPping RIGHT off to, but, Santa LEFT to follow the other elfs RIGHT back to the workshop. Hundreds of Elfs scurried LEFT and RIGHT and LEFT and RIGHT all over the workshop and then through the door on the LEFT into the warehouse and they looked LEFT and RIGHT and LEFT and RIGHT and LEFT and all over but still found no gifts.
Santa thought perhaps the Elfs had been partying just a bit much this season and SKIPped making any gifts for Christmas. Just then RIGHTy the head Elf explained to Santa, the gifts had all been made, wrapped and LEFT in the sacks for Santa to deliver. RIGHTy explained that he put LEFTy in charge of putting the sacks into the warehouse. RIGHTy called for the Elfs to stop searching and LEFTy was to come forward at once. Only problem is, LEFTy was no where to be found. Where had LEFTy disappeared to? RIGHTy asked if any of the Elfs knew what happened to LEFTy. SKIP the Elf stepped forward. SKIP said he thought he saw LEFTy run RIGHT outside but didnt know where he was headed. Santa nodded and said yes, he saw LEFTy go RIGHT outside also.
Santa and the Elfs headed RIGHT outside to try to find LEFTy. SKIP noticed that there were foot prints in the new fallen snow. Santa and RIGHTy led the group and followed the footprints. They headed up the hill and to the RIGHT, then LEFT at the tree, LEFT at the garage and RIGHT into the storage shed. Sure enough there was LEFTy, napping RIGHT on top of the last sack he was suppose to fill. SKIP headed over and gently shook LEFTy. LEFTy, SKIP said, wake up Santa, RIGHTy and all the other elfs are here.
LEFTy woke up, shook his head and explained that he thought the gifts were to be in storage and not the warehouse. RIGHTy and SKIP laughed, silly LEFTy, he never did listen to directions very well. Santa was able to finish filling up the list with the RIGHT gifts. All the elfs helped LEFTy carry the sacks RIGHT back to the warehouse where they belonged. No children would be SKIPped this Christmas. Everyone would get a gift! LEFTy, SKIP and RIGHTy are wondering, what gift did you receive?
