Story behind the little girl that sings "Wishes"

 for the OP, because I can imagine that this was a really hard thing to hear and would have made it even more of an emotional challenge to get through. That CM should be disciplined. This is a horrible rumor to be spreading and it's down right irresponsible too. Maggie

I believe there is a sliding scale of 'horrible' that can be applied here.

I agree, not something to joke as such about.

I'm sure the CM believed it was true and wasn't joking. I'm sure people who read it here believed it. I don't think CM's intentionally pass along inaccurate stories but there are plenty of them out there.

I hate to burst your bubble, but I believe that the singer is Charity Farris - alive and well. Still a good story!

Yup, Charity Farris is the singer of wishes. I googled it and it came up through mouseplanet. Great folk lore though!

I also read that Charity Farris is the little girl who sings. I read this on the mouseplanet website. Why would a CM make this up and lie to a guest? I guess that's what happens when rumors start......or CM's are misinformed.

I would NEVER think that this CM just made it up....obviously she was misinformed...it was not intentional. She was very sincere when telling me.

My DD11 thought I was embarresing to have me teary eyed watching it. Now I'll be drowning in tears.

Though obviously not the "Wishes" song, there was a Make-a-Wish child who recorded four Christmas songs as her wish. It was on a CD sold by Bath and Body Works at Christmastime 2005. Her name is Paige Armstrong and she was 15 when she recorded the songs. She is considered a cancer survivor having (now) overcome bone cancer that was diagnosed at age 10.

Anyway, I'm sure the CM did not pass on that story as a prank. She probably heard something to that effect and just thought she would share it. Kind of a Chicken Soup for the Disney World Soul!

I now guarantee that since this was posted here, this 'Legend of the Wishes Child" will be passed on as an amazing 'fact' for YEARS to come.

Hear it soon on a Disney Bus near you.

;)

I also think the CM probably was passing on something she thought was true.

I wonder if Make A Wish got mixed into the story because there is a Disney Wishes CD that was sold to benefit Make a Wish.

I can see how somehow:
- the fact that this CD was being sold to benefit MAW getting mixed together with

- the fact that SnwflkCts posted about a girl recording 4 songs as her wish

- and the fact that a little girl recorded the song for Wishes

getting all mixed up to make this rumor. (Think of the 'telephone' game.)

I really think that is awful that somebody would prey on another's emotions with something like that. It's not like there are not enough emails fill with this kind of rubbish.

I am not saying that the CM who told the OP this made it up, but somebody did.

In the past, I knew plenty of CM's that would make up stories and pass them along to guests for fun. Not saying that's the case in the story in this thread but I honestly wouldn't be surprised.

I am a former employee at the Disney world in Orlando florida. The song was made my a little girl that was part of the make a wish foundation. Her only wish was to be part of Disney forever. This is when Disney decided to allow her to record a song which was latter named wishes it has been played ever since.

A former bus driver :rotfl:

Judy Garland found out her Dad died right before recording "Over the Rainbow." At least, that's how it played out in the movie starring Andrea McArdle (the first Annie on Broadway).

It can't be true until I hear it from a Disney bus driver.

:rotfl2: :lmao:

For those of you who said you hoped this story was true....I understand what you are trying to say. But personally, I am glad the child is alive and well.

I wholeheartedly agree with you, but I think it was more a case of people on here wanting to know the story behind the voice than hoping for a tragedy. :goodvibes
