Storms in the forecast - reassure me! ;)

We usually go in Oct so I'm not used to seeing the forecast like it is now. We leave today for a week. Is it brief rain showers or are you soaked all day? We have ponchos packed but I don't want to be miserable, just trying to prepare mentally for missing stuff and being cranky. Advice? I've read to do outdoor rides early?

Pretty much the typical afternoon showers in the summer. Can be heavy at times but usually a short period of rain. Probably a good idea to get a quality weather radar app, and can track what may be coming so you don’t get surprised.

We often travel in August and would go to the pool in the morning and stay until lunchtime. Then clean up and head to a park. Even if it rained later in the day there was plenty to do inside. Honestly, sometimes it’s a brief shower, other times it rains the rest of the evening. We use the app Dark Sky and find it very accurate. (Ex. Rain starting in 10 minutes or no precipitation the next hour).
Our daughter’s family is down there now and they have used the pool twice in the mornings-it’s nearly empty. They have found the lines are not long at all on those days. In fact, none of the days, no matter when they go. She also said they are rarely more than 2-3 families on a bus (they are at BCV).
We were really worried about them going (and decided not to go ourselves) but every thing she has shared has reassured us.

Bern here since Sunday. Thunderstorms pretty much every afternoon. However you really need them. Otherwise it gets so hot - its unbearable.

I've been here the past two days and it has been sunnier than I expected (and hotter than expected, around 95-97 as the high even though my phone says 91 high forecast). Thunderstorms have rolled in every day around 5 p.m. Ponchos are good to have, or just plan to be indoors or at your hotel from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. I planned my park time accordingly as well (basically morning entry), as mornings you typically will have less chance of rain. And some rides will shut down with lightning.

Thunderstorms really impact rides at AK. They rolled in around 230pm when we ere there. After waiting about an hour with really nothing the kids wanted to ride- we left the park.

Without the ability to park hop - that ended our day way too early.

Good to know. We have an ADR at 445 so maybe it'll work out for us.

No park hopping is probably the one issue that will keep us from coming back.

We can't even take advantage of food and wine festival since one park per day means no epcot at night - like we usually do.

I would recommend a proper rain jacket from a company like frog toggs or marmot. Sometimes it’ll rain a lot during the day and other times it’s short lived. I bought a rain jacket from marmot as we go in the summer a lot and the rain jacket vs poncho is a game changer. When I have my rain jacket I almost want it to rain lol

It rains almost every day in the summer. Normally just a quick storm passing through. Embrace the rain (and inner child) and enjoy it. We stayed all last summer, as long as it wasn't lightening, my kids ran around in it. It is some of the most memorable parts of our trip. We are a sandal family though, so shoes dried quick, and we were already fully drenched from sweat. You can also find a place to duck into for 15-20 minutes and normally be good (Tiki Birds!). Have a fun trip!

Weather alert app on phone is great. I could plan around the estimated time of shower arrival in terms of my choices of "what was up next" for me. Really helped me stay dry.
