Plan on doing a trip end of Oct 2009 and was wondering if staying at the BCV is worth it to use Stormalong Bay? We stayed at VWL last year and the kids really like the pool and the slide. I hear Stormalong is great and was wondering how it compares.

We love SAB it's a great pool. It has a slide, a lazy river, some type of whirllypool thing (real descriptive I know) and it's huge!! No comparison, if you're picking a resort soley on pools, BC wins.

There is a great discription at www.allearsnet.com the pool is 3 acres. I think it is wonderful. BeachClub is a great resort, great restaurants, the Boardwalk is awesome. We just love it. Walking distance to two parks. What's not to like?

SAB is great....We were there for the first time this past November. Since you always hear the pros here are some cons.

SAB is very big.....so if you have little ones its very difficult to watch them all if they are at different areas of the pool. The currents in the pool are quite brisk in some areas. Entrance to the slide is across the walkway. But with no kids or older kids......all this shouldn't even be an issue....for us 8,6,1 made it a small challenge.

The end of October is also F&W, so it may not be that easy to get into BCV if you don't own there.

We like SAB enough to have added on BCV points there. Our DGC were 3, 4 and 5 in November, the middle of, and it was very cold! Hardly anyone was in the pool, we made it once to SAB and once to the villa pool during that trip. Personally, I am not booking any more all family trips to BCV that aren't in what I consider nearly absolute swimming weather, warm. We are booked for May.

PS. Yes it is a huge pool, but when we were in it, there were no problems, our family was the only one in it! More times than not there was no one in the pool during the days we were there.

Love SAB, but our kids are older so we don't have the issues. I will tell you that being from Texas I don't swim unless it's close to 90. However, it could be snowing and my kids would be in the pool...... because there heated and it's okay as long as you don't get out.

Personally, I despise SAB. It has very deep areas (over 8' deep) with a strong current. I don't like the sinking sands at all. It's nearly impossible to find a couple of beach chairs together unless you head to the pool as soon as it opens. Plus they are so crowded together it's almost like TL or BB. The lazy river is really a "not so lazy little loop". One big circle, 8' deep, strong current - don't you dare put a smaller kid on a tube and allow them to fall off. They will drown.

I prefer the Dunes Cove pool over SAB. That's the leisure pool over by BCV. For them many trips we stayed at BCV, I seldom went out to SAB.

I think most people who own at BCV just love SAB. We stayed there for five days a couple of years ago, and we were frankly underwhelmed by SAB. My basic impression of SAB was that it is a wonderful place for adults to sunbathe, but not much of a place to swim.

Although SAB is large, it's chopped up into a bunch of very small sections. The only large area to use is the sandy beach area for toddlers. Everything else strikes me as small features that are interesting, but not that much fun. In fact, the second day we started to go to SAB, DD6 said she wanted to go to the pool with the sandcastle slide (OKW).

Other posters are right about deep water and strong currents. We have a pool at home and our DD6 is a very strong swimmer, so we weren't worried about her, but kids who aren't really strong swimmers will have to be very closely watched at all times -- and I mean being within a few feet of the kid. I was very impressed with the SAB lifeguards -- they are very attentive and have all the best EMS gear -- but I certainly would not depend on them to watch my child.

We were also less than pleased about swimming in the same water with ducks. Duckies are cute as they can be, but they are filthy birds.

SAB notwithstanding, we thought BCV was a spectacular resort. We loved the ambiance, the grounds, the staff, and the proximity to Epcot, the Boardwalk, and DHS. It's a beautiful place and we look forward to staying there again.

i have a 5dd who loves anything to do with water. i spent 65 pts just to stay on a friday and saturday night and i felt great. my daughter loves the pool she spent over 8hrs in that pool. she had no problem with the slide or walking all the way around to the other side to keep on getting on again and again and again. the quick service Hurricane Hannahs (i think:confused3 ) is totally perfect for my daughter chicken fingers (real ones) hamburgers (great one) an awesome snack... really really great if you u have someone to enjoy it with i am not that much of a swimmer. but in the next few years i hope to purchase a 75 pt add on so that i can stay a sunday thru thrusday to make my dd happy again:goodvibes
