We are considering staying at the bcv in September. I think the pool would be great for the kids but my parents don't like the idea of sand on the bottom of the pool. Does the whole area have sand and how much sand is there?

Thanks.

hmmm...and what exactly is wrong with sand? We stayed there last spring and really loved it! My daugher was just turning 5 and loves sand!, so she was in absolute heaven. I definitely remember it being in all of the more shallow "kiddie" water areas but cannot honestly remember if it was in the deeper pool areas...I didn't get there very often with my little one.

Anyway, I highly recommend staying there, and hope you have a great trip, wherever you decide.

I think you'd find the sand no problem at all. It's a regular pool area (concrete) and very large with winding pools, a large whirlpool area, slide, several calmer pools all interconnected. The sand is several inches deep in the pool itself. it's really kind of cool feeling when you are in it.

That's is our favorite swimming area at WDW by far and we enjoy Stormalong Bay very much!!

If your parents are worried about the sand because it will be all over the children and the room like beach sand, tell them not to worry.

I was worried our first time too, but leave it to WDW to consider every detail. The sand is a large grain sand that does not stick to you. As you exit the water, the sand stays in the pool not on you.

Now the beach is another story, that is beach sand but the SAB sand stays in SAB.

The quiet pool which will be the closest pool to your rooms at BCV does not have any sand in it.

What I don't like about SAB is how deep it gets in lots of spots and I hate the sinking sands. In those deep spots you can get a pretty good current going, too, for the short lazy (maybe not so lazy) river. I prefer the Dunes Cove pool over at the villas.

actually, my family likes the sand since it much softer on your feet than hard concrete bottom!!!

Let me tell you, you'll love that pool and the sand won't be a problem. In the old days, Vacation Club members could "pool hop" there and our kids adored it. We went there at least once or twice a visit and also loved the cheese bread served at the Yacht Club Galley at lunch....yum
