How crowded does SAB get in the summer? I know only the YC and BC can use it, but does it get shoulder to shoulder busy like the CBR pool? It just seems so big that it would never be too crowded. I saw some video of SAB on youtube and it was practically empty, but it must have been shot in a cooler month because the lifeguards had on long pants and zip up long sleeve jackets. Any insight as to summer time SAB crowds?

TIA

I was there is August, are you talking about the water being crowded?

The pool there is so large that it never seems crowded. You may have to wait for a tube to go around the lazy river or wait on line for the slide.

They do a great job making sure you are an actual guest of BC or YC so if the resort is at capacity there are only that many people that can ever have access. Also, many of the guests there are attending a convention that keeps them from the pool.

If you are wonder about the ability to get chairs that is a whole other story. People come to the pool early to "claim" their space. Sometimes you never see the actual people that are supposedly sitting there. There are a lot of chairs but only so many around the edge of the pool.

If I were going to DW during the summer there is nowhere else I'd rather stay!

Enjoy your trip where ever you end up!

When we stayed at BC (June) SAB never felt crowded, in the water or out. It's HUGE lol. We spent at least 3-4 hours/day at the pool and one full day we did nothing but swim. Before that trip I read a lot on these boards about the chair hoarders but never had an issue with that personally. Maybe if you want chairs in a specific spot, or a whole bunch, but if you're just looking for 1-2 chairs and don't care how close they are to the pool you probably won't have an issue. They are excellent about checking MBs and only allow guests of YC and BC in the pool area. We saw quite a few people try to bring in guests that weren't actually staying at the resort and they were turned away. Have fun and enjoy your trip!

We were there late August last year and SAB never seemed overly crowded. There are 3 pools and its spread over a large area. Getting chairs can be a challenge at certain times of the day, but actually using the pools was never an issue of crowding.

Thanks everyone! I guess I am more concerned about the pool itself. We stayed at CBR and the pool is amazing, but when it is so crowded you can't swim without bumping into people, it kind of takes the fun out of it. SAB looks amazing!

Just to clarify, it is guests at YC, BC & BCV that have access. That is quite a few more folks.
What do you mean by " can't swim" ? Are you hoping to do laps? It is too crowded for that to me. Lots of folks in the water, sometimes volleyball or games etc.

LOL, no not swimming laps. It's just at CBR at night the pool was jam packed. You basically had to just stand still or tread water, you just could not swim around. I am not a big swimmer, but I like to move around a bit, not a lot, just wander around the water, and at CBR you just could not do that without bumping into people. It was fine and the crowds thinned as it got later, but some nights it seemed like the entire hotel ate dinner then went to the pool at the same time, granted CBR is pretty big.

It gets busy but not super crowded. You don't bump into people in the water, but it may become difficult to find multiple chairs together outside the pool! The staff really control who enters the pool area. Everyone needs to be a hotel guest.

CBR has a lot more resort rooms than the BC and YC have. And there is no way to keep pool hoppers out of the CBR pool.

Yes, busy. You can move around, but still busy. We always go first two weeks of August. The lazy river is everyone jammed packed, however. Nightime was better, I just kept moving to a better beach chair as it became available, at night I could get a table. In the afternoon, all 4 of us were lucky to share a chair. We had just come from a split at POR where we seemed to have more room in pool, and I always got a table.
