We're booking our trip to Disney and will probably end up renting points to stay at either OKW or BCV.

I'm highly considering spending the extra $$ to stay at BCV, simply because my girlfriend loves the beach and SAB is probably the closest thing to a real beach at Disney. That being said, is anything at SAB heated? She's a big baby when it comes to the cold and we will be staying late January into early February. I know it's certainly going to be a lot warmer in Orlando than in Pittsburgh, i'm just wondering if it's going to be warm enough there to really enjoy SAB.

Otherwise, we'll pocket the extra money and stay at OKW. Both resorts have their appeal to us. We usually spend every night at DTD and being able to take the boat from OKW to DTD is great, but SAB and being able to walk to Epcot from BCV swings it the other way.

So what does everyone think? Warm enough to enjoy SAB or save the extra cash (for more Disney@Home shopping! ;) ) and stay at OKW?

Hi Brandon.

SAB is heated, but the air in January and February is not always heated!

There is no way to give you an answer on this. Orlando winter weather is totally unpredictable. You could have days in the 80s with cool nights, or you could have mornings near freezing with afternoon highs struggling to get out of the 40s. And if you're going for a week you could run into both of those weather scenarios!

If you get a week stuck in the low 80s you'll have a great time swimming at SAB. But if you're there and it's chilly and raw week, swimming will be the last thing you want to do.

IMHO, SAB is a poor substitute for a beach - the sand area of the pool is comparatively small and is in essence a crowded kiddie land. If you want "tropical waterfront" ambiance, I'd go to the Poly - the whole area fronting the volcano pool is much more beachy than anything at BC.

SAB is by far the best pool on property. The beachy themeing is excellent, it goes well beyond just the sand, and extends around the entire resort.

We loved visiting there in August, but I would not consider staying there in Jan/Feb. We visit every February, and it seems to be a rare day when it is warm enough to spend a day lounging by the pool. But then, I do not swim unless is is 80 degrees, at least! :)

If you do decide to visit BC, I hope it is beautiful and :sunny:

Thanks for all of the opinions. I was looking through my pictures the other day and now remember that in quite a few of them, we had poncho's on.

I feel less guilty about skipping BCV now ;) We'll pocket the extra $320 and spend it at DTD :)

Thanks again.

I have a question if you stay at Beach Club Villas are you allowed to use Stromalong Bay? I was just curious, my inlaws to be may stay at the Villas and I was not sure, since last summer they checked room keys to get into the pool.

Yes, the BCV are part of the resort and you may use SAB if you are staying in the villas. Normally, they will check your key.

We stayed at the YC the first of Feb. this year. Check in day the weather was great, then a front came through and we were putting on every stitch of clothing we had with us! The water had steam rising off of it and the ducks really seemed to be enjoying the heated water. A few brave souls were swimming, forcing a poor lifeguard to sit in the chair and watch them!
