Can anyone confirm from a recent trip or a trip from last Summer what the "Hours of Operation" were for Stormalong bay?? I am being told by The Beach Club Concierge that it is currently open from 10:00-8:00. That seems ridiculous, considering all the other Deluxe Themed Pools are open until midnight. :confused3

Any info would be great.

Thanks,

We were just there, and that's what the hours were. I agree...ridiculous for summer hours!

The theme pool at the GF was only open until 8pm also. Most of the deluxes have a second "quiet" pool which is open 24 hours. Both the YC and the BC have another pool.

It really makes NO sense to me at all. I am actually considering cancelling the Beach Club part of our stay. I would rather stay somewhere where the kids and I can swim after the parks close. :sad2:

The lifeguards told me SAB closes at 8:00 for safety reasons (I guess that's when it gets dark).
Last time I was there in Sept for 2 nights, it stormed around 5:30 both nights. The storms passed by 7:00ish the pool stayed closed for the rest of the night. The quiet pools were open although I never tried them.

Those are the usual summer hours, so though sometimes they do keep the pool open until 10PM, when capacity warrents it. Remember SAB isn't like any normal deluxe pool, where it is one single large pool. It has several smaller pools, which are A LOT harder to look after from a safety stand point. They ALWAYS close the slide at dusk, and usually the pool follows suit.

:flower: THERE IS A GREAT HOT TUB IN THE HEALTH CLUB, THAT NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT, ALSO THE QUIET POOL IN BY THE BCV, WHICH IS REALLY GREAT, I BELIEVE IT TAKES MANY LIFE GUARDS TO MAN THE BIG POOL. ITS A WONDERFUL RESORT AND THE POOL IS THE BEST! ENJOY!

Is the healthclub included in your nightly rate - or do you have to pay an extra fee to use it?

10 am - to 8 pm !!

Most people leave for the parks before 10 am (so, no swimming before your park visit)
Most people get back from the parks after 8 pm (so, no swimming after your park visit)

Grand total: You dont get to use the SAB.

And im staying at the BC from July 18 - 21.

Oh for the love of......

Wy can't you use SAB during a midday break or spend a morning at the pool and the evening at a park? It's not like you CAN'T use it, but like anything else you need to PLAN for it.

I have. We're staying at the BC from 10/2-10/7 and have made plans SPECIFICALLY to use SAB. In fact it's why we booked BC in the first place.

We usually go to the parks in the a.m., go for a swim in the afternoon and go back to the parks in the evening. It is by far the nicest pool. We also utilzie the quite pool at the YC. The laudromat is right next to the quite pool so I will do any wash I need to do if I am there for an extended stay and we will swim in the quite pool while we are waiting. It is really a nice feature to have.

We also hit the parks early morning then head back to the resort mid-day for lunch and a swim. Then, back to the parks around 5 or so. It's so relaxing to chill out and relax for a bit, especially during those hot summer months. With the parks open late, it makes a nice break in the day.
If you really need that after the parks swim, use one of the quiet pools. I would hate to think of some of the awful things that could happen at some of those pools after dark. Way too much water/area to guard in the dark!!!

Over Memorial Day weekend, SAB was open until 10 pm. It closed at 8 pm on the week nights.

AT CR, they closed the slide at 8 pm (that is when the lifeguards left) but the rest of the pool stayed open.

We were staying at BCV from May 29-June 3rd (last Friday). Early in the week, the listed pool closing was 10 pm. One night (Tues.?) I brought the kids down at 7:30 pm and found out the pool was closing at 8, a surprise to everyone there (and not in accordance with what was posted--10 pm closing). Anyway, my dd (age 16) was told by one of the lifeguards that they were closing early due to a shortage of lifeguards. The rest of the week closing was 8 pm. One day you could not rent the tubes because the little shop was closed (although they went ahead and let people use them for free). Another day (Thurs.?) Hurricane Hannah's was completely closed all day. For whatever reason, I do believe they are shorthanded (or people are not showing up for work) at SAB. In comparison, we were at O'Hana's on Thurs. night and the volcano pool there was still open at 10 pm.

Maybe a letter writing or in this day and age Email writing campaign is appropriate. We pay deluxe prices we should have deluxe benefits. We just stayed at BCV and Poly and many nights at the Poly we were swimming till midnight. The slide was closed and there were no lifeguards. But the pool was well attended and a real party atmosphere. But SAB should stay open till at least 10 pm during swim weather. They could even turn off or rope off the lazy river but I still think that paying as much as you do they should have lifeguards. Lets face it Lifeguards aren't making killer salaries. The resort manager is cost cutting. SAB is many people's primary reason for staying at YC/BC/BCV it shouldn't be an area where they employ austerity.

The GF's theme pool closes at 8pm also and they are a deluxe. If they rope off the area's of SAB, wouldn't it be like swimming in a regular pool anyway? And if so, they have a 2nd pool and hot tub available 24 hours at the GF, YC and BC deluxes. I'm not a big pool person though, so maybe I'm just missing it.
