I have a DS who is 11. DH and I were talking about when to send him to give out candy instead of going door to door. What age did you stop your kids from trick or treating?

NEVERRRRRRR!!!!!

Really...I never understood parents who made their kids quit celebrating the holidays.

Let them do it until they don't want to anymore!

Enjoy the memories while they last!

My mom let me go as long as I wanted. I skipped a couple years here and there, but the very last time I went, I was 14. My friends and I dressed as babies, we had a blast. :)

My own kids are still little....

I don't mind having teens come to our door, it's fun for everyone. :) Heck, I wouldn't care if an adult came by, as long as they're dressed up! LOL

You should never stop them.

2nd year of college here, the girlfriend and I still collect candy to hold us over til Christmas :p

My son is 13 and I told him he's too old, but I remember going probably as a freshman in high school. I get a little spooked when the big kids come to the door because they're usually rude. Maybe I'll let him go if he wants to. Last year he helped a friend out at his house scaring the trick-or-treaters, and seemed to have a blast doing that.

I went out all the way through high school. My friends and I wore a costumes (I hate when older kids come through w/o a costume) and we were well behaved/respectful.

My son's last year to trick or treat was when he was 14 I believe. He made that decision on his own. He's 16 now and is going to give out candy with his girlfriend.

My daughter is 13 and still wants to go out. I'll let her decide too when she wants to stop.

I was 12 when I when trick or treating for the last time.

My older daughters stopped trick or treating once they were 12, after that, they decided it was too "babyish"~! LOL

I don't mind when teenagers come to the door for candy, what really bothers me though is when a group of high schoolers come to the door, no costume, nothing and then stuff the candy in their jacket pockets or whatever. We had quite a few of those last year and after the second group came, I decided that was it. No costume, no candy! ( I know a big meanie..oh well :p )

I'm going trick-or-treating with my friend and her soon-to-be-adopted son. I'm 43!

The last time I went was when I was 14 also. I'm letting my kids go as long as they want to. I was so excited when I could trick-or-treat again with my kids. Plus this year we have a one-year old, so guess who gets her candy!! :teeth:

I'll probably let my kids decide BUT they will wear a costume if they continue to trick or treat as teenagers.

I can't stand it when teenagers come to my door and put no effort in it whatsoever...no costume, no bag, and a bad attitude.

I was going to say 10! My 11 year old didn't want to do it last year at 10 either - so age 9 was his last year.

Last year, DS, then 12 and DD, then 15.5 dressed up and went. They're both planning on doing it again with their friends again this year! As long as they're having fun, staying out of trouble, and are dressed in costume, they certainly have my permission to be KIDS!!!!!!!!

I was 18 when I stopped trick or treating. :p

I say let 'em do it for as long as they want to. I always like seeing older kids at my door -- I can think of a hundred or so things that I wouldn't want to see a teenager do, but trick or treating is not one of them.

You mean you're supposed to stop at some point? That's one of the reasons I had a kid--so I'd have an excuse!

DD is 13 and she still likes to go. As long as she puts some effort into a costume and isn't out causing trouble, I don't care. It's fun and we all have to grow up soon enough!

LOL I didn't know we were supposed to stop! I live to take my nephew trick or treating. I dress up and go with him with my own bag! I dressed up one year with some friends when I was 19 and we went w/o any kids. I'll only quit when there aren't any little ones to use as an excuse!
