Stop the campaigning already!!!!

We are all like family here.Same in that we all love Disney, different too in so many ways. We come here and go to Disney to get away from the crazy world around us. So is it really nesessary that we have signatures that include campaigning for the president election? I know this not the right place for this comment, but I just get tired of seeing campaigning everywhere. Vote for who you feel is the best, and the rest will work itself out...

I agree! At the high school where I teach there are also inappropriate "plugs" Can you imagine? Teachers wearing campaign buttons!
Completely the wrong place for that type of political activisim.

The DIS should be a magical escape!

I COMPLETELY AGREE!! I hate seeing those campaign banners. UGH. I'm so sick of it already.
I know who I'm voting for- and seeing those banners does nothing to change that. The Disboard is not the place for your political grandstanding!
We should be a politically neutral place.

To me, it's no different than people posting which resorts they've stayed at, or photos of their kids, or how much weight they've lost, or the logos of their favorite football team. No one here truly believes that their banner is going to convince someone else to vote one way or the other. They're just posting a preference, just like any other person with a personal like / dislike / quote in their signature.

I barely notice them any more. The things I AM tired of are tags! I could easily do away with those. Most of them are inside jokes and have no meaning to anyone else.

I agree with the OP, considering the divisions between political parties the political signatures feel hostile to me. I am a political junkie myself but won't push my politics on the kind and happy folks at the DIS.

There is a discussion board here for current issues and people can say whatever they like. However, when you put it in your signature people CAN'T avoid it because it goes on every board.

There's an easy solution ~ turn off signatures. Then you don't have to see anything you don't want.

Everyone is entitled to put whatever they want to (within the TOS) in their signatures.

If it makes you unhappy, turn them off.

First thing I noticed is that the OP said they were venting And I do understand your point.

I use the DIS for information about WDW and DL. Politics are a part of life and some people are into politics like others are into any and all things Disney I personally wouldn't put a banner up for a particular canidate b/c I'm here to talk Disney not elections....JMHO. But the DIS does offer the community boards for people to discuss things other than disney.


I do find it rather interesting that people say "If you don't like it then turn off the signatures and you don't have to see them."

I'm new at this stuff...I didn't know you could turn the signitures off !!! I really wasn't trying to stirr things up. We all love this country and want the same things out of life...MORE DISNEY !!!!

I just feel like the political candidates take away from the Disney magic I am trying to find here.
If I want politics- I turn on the tv. If I need my Disney fix- I visit the Disboards. The two shouldn't be connected!!

I agree. I like to see people signatures that include thier trip countdown pictures of the family in Disney and other personal things but just like I think politics talk is not appropriate for work. I think that the political ads are irratating. I mean if you are political you don't want to see the opponents face on the disney boards and if you are not you are just getting sick of all the political crap all together. Personally I am a little tired of both!
