Stop Spoiling Olympic Results!

Wow. So many people who are completely OK with the idea of spoiling the fun/anticipation for everyone else, when the power to NOT do so is completely within their ability and QUITE simple to do so. JUST DON'T PUT THE RESULTS IN THE TITLE. You can post whatever you like in the body of the thread!

Come on. Some of you guys are being difficult and argumentative JUST to be difficult and argumentative and I am really sick of it. Do you enjoy raining on other people's parades? Were you that kid who went around popping other kid's balloons at birthday parties? Are you that guy at the movie theatre who has read the book version of the film and shouts out the ending of the film and ruins it for those around you just because you can? We have the power to be courteous to our fellow DIS'ers, so let's please show it and simply not ruin the outcome of these events by putting the results in the titles.

BTW, I am please to see that goofsk8 did change the thread title. Sure the event is over, but the change may prevent new posters from thinking that that was an approriate thread title. Well done goofysk8!

Did you forget to take your meds today or what? Seriously, get a grip. :confused3

I saw someone say that they were upset because a news website mentioned the results of something. Somehow I don't think that news agencies are going to delay reporting the news.

:lmao: Anyone else remember the good ol' days when people didn't TIVO live events? This is a board for non-Disney discussions...which would include live events. If you don't want to know the results of a live event or the ending of a movie then simply don't visit this particular board. It's that simple!!!! There are so many other boards on here that you can read to find everything from early park openings to budget helps to off-site resorts. There's a million other sites you can visit if you're addicted to the internet!

I feel sorry for the ones that have been bashed for posting results because I know I received a snotty pm when I posted something last year about the Daytona Twins. I wonder if we're allowed to mention yet who won this years Super Bowl or who won the Daytona 500......or do we have to wait 6 months for everyone to watch their 500 hours of recorded events? Maybe we should ban all discussions that deal with real events.

I'm curious why so many people who don't have a problem with spoilers even bothered to click on this thread. I'm guessing purely for the fun of a good debate - since the OP was very clear in her title what the thread was about. So much angst from people who clearly see this as a non issue.

I have no doubt the spoilers are innocent, I just don't get what the problem with trying to get the word out not to do it is. We go through this every few years - and the problem does get better by discussing it!

It seems odd to me that so many people would rather have this board be limited to East Coast people for several hours each evening rather than simply skipping putting results in the thread titles. A slow board really isn't that much fun - would you really rather exclude thousands of people over putting the spoiler discussions inside a thread!?

As to the people that say "don't read the thread", they obviously aren't reading this one or they would realize people aren't taking about the posts, but the TITLES of the posts.

I haven't seen anyone say that spoilers are great. I have seen many people say that having a temper tantrum because someone does is pretty childish.

Like you, goofysk8, I am also following the live results of the ladies short program. Why, oh why do I have such the urge to post the standings as of right now????? Oh, don't worry, Sasha hasn't even skated yet (GASP- am I allowed to even post the name???? Will I be banned now?????)

Sheesh. lighten up people.

 I'll say it Spoilers are GREAT!!!!! Now I don't have to waste a whole evening watching the Olympics.

Ok, I have direct tv....where am I missing the live coverage? I'm not having any luck........I don't need anymore info than where to tune in. :scratchin I looked all over for a spoiler yesterday before DS's b-day party and no luck.

I have no angst about this issue. Like In A Hurry it's amazing how people get their knickers in a knot over this non issue. But I suppose now there is a rule that one cannot comment on a thread about an issue they don't have a problem with? :confused3 So many rules, so little enforcement. Maybe the powers that be should appoint some more moderators to help straighten out the CB.

exactly!!! :thumbsup2

 Start a "Spoiler" sub-board to the CB! That way people who want to post "spoiler" threads can do so and those with delicate constitutions can simply avoid that sub-board and thus be able to watch TV in blissful ignorance. It's worked wonders on the Resorts and now the Restaurant Board. They have sub-boards here for birthdays, hurricanes and the military. One more is not going to hurt anything.

Sheesh! I clicked on it because I wanted to read the post and hear her points. I disagree with her. Allowed, right?

YourMajesty- sorry, I should have been more clear. I'm not watching them live on TV. I'm following along on-line at NBCOlympics.com. I just keep hitting refresh every so often and voila! Immediate results. Let me know if you want the link....

Apparently not. You're filled with angst about non issues like the rest of us neurotics. We don't have opinions, just angst. :teeth:

The Olympics are live news, not a TV program.

This reads like you're still trying to compare it to other things. Not having spoilers for a show like "Lost" is totally different. That show isn't live.

I know! I was so mad that someone spoiled the Ice dancing tonight. I was sitting watching with my DD and during the commercial I came to the CB just to check something and BOOM I was spoiled right in the title. Make matters worse the poster spoiled and then disappeared so it still sits there. What's the point in doing that?

If I was the OP I would disappear too after getting a post in her thread like the one you gave:

HELLLLLOOOOOO You just SPOILED this for me. Thank you so very much!

PLEASE add SPOLIER to your title! ***?

I am truly amazed at how you could post something this harsh over results and then complain in another post about the OP disappearing......did anyone think maybe the OP didn't do it intentionally----that maybe they thought it exciting and wanted to share??
Is there no such thing as asking someone nicely why they did something or asking them nicely/politely to NOT do something???
Flame away.....

If you truly don't want to know the outcome of a live event or a TIVO'd big show, then I agree with others; do NOT turn on your TV, radio, or computer. It's just one of the perils of a 24 hour media society. Heck, I wouldn't even answer the phone. My 80-year old mother might spill the beans and completely destroy my life. Certainly, the last place I would go to is a message board where everything is always discussed.
