I think it would be more effective with a private hypnotist & several repeated sessions, if you want to go that route. I went to a one-time group session. It was a several hours lecture on nutrition and exercise, accompanied by a vitamin sales pitch, then with 30-45 minutes of guided relaxation/imagery/"hyponosis" at the end. A lot of what I learned about nutrition and exercise has stayed with me, but I didn't feel I got the "true" benefit from just one hypnosis session.
I found the Body for Life book set by Bill Phillips to be more understandable, easy, and more beneficial than what I got out of the hypnosis experience. I hope this helps!
