Stop over suggestions for Busch Gardens?

We're planning on going to Busch Gardens sometime between 26 & 30 Dec. We will probably be going into the park over two days so we can take things a little more leisurely.

Can anyone recommend where we should stay Tampa/St Pete's etc and any hotel suggestions would be appreciated. (2 adults + 11 & 8 year old)

We looked on tripadvisor and decide on La Quinta Inn for our stopover in Feb.

Its really close to Busch Gardens.

There are a good number of the standard hotel chains (La Quinta, Comfort Inn, Howard Johnson, etc) along Busch Boulevard and Fowler Avenue, not far from the park. However, for a better hotel, you need to go more into downtown Tampa or out to St Pete's/Clearwater for the likes of the Radisson and Hyatt chains.
