"Stop Criticizing Palin!"

Sarah does have a li'l problem about lyin':

Appearing on Fox last night, Sarah Palin told Sean Hannity a heartwarming story of how she asked her teenage daughters for their opinion before accepting the vp offer.

"So ask the girls what they thought and they’re like, ‘Absolutely, let’s do this, Mom,’” Palin recounted of her daughters, Bristol and Willow.

Yet, according to the campaign-provided timeline of how Palin's selection came about, her kids only found out the big news after they were spirited from Alaska to Ohio for the announcement.
"While there, Governor Palin's children, who had been told they were going to Ohio to celebrate their parents' wedding anniversary, were told for the first time that their mother would be a nominee for Vice President of the United States of America," said the official timeline, as released by McCain's campaign last month.

Todd Palin, in a separate interview with Fox this week, also said the kids were not told about the decision until after they left Alaska.

Asked about the discrepancy, Palin spokeswoman Tracey Schmitt said: "She asked the girls to vote once they arrived in Ohio."

When it was noted that, that would have been after the decision had already been made, Schmitt said Palin was still in Arizona at the time.

This, of course, doesn't change the fact that the children were already in Ohio for the express purpose of announcing he news.

By itself, the tale is a small thing. Perhaps Palin was more running it by them then asking them. But why, when many of her policy-related statements are coming under question, would Palin embroider something that is so easily proven untrue?

Al Gore was roasted in 2000 for his exaggerations, and the pattern of them gave Republicans a brutal frame to use against him. With these sorts of stories, Palin is giving Democrats the same sort of ammunition.

Why is it too much to consider that she might be telling the truth? You seem to have made the decision on this already.

Because she has given different reasons for the firing and she keeps contradicting herself?

ETA: In case you missed this from the OP, here it is again:

"we need new direction" and "new energy" to "he wasn't hiring enough cops," to "he wasn't doing enough about alcohol in the bush" to "he lobbied for budget increases" to the latest version, which is a doozy; Monegan displayed "egregious rogue behavior."

See? all this can't be true. She's lying.

At the rate she's goin', she ain't gonna take that other oath either, neither will McCain. :rotfl:

According to the latest polls today, her unfavorable rating has soared 7 points just in the past couple days and her favorable rating has dropped 10 points in 3 days.

People are starting to peek behind the curtains of the sideshow and not liking what they see.

All those things can be the same thing.

People are often fired and some generic reason given.

How often do we see this with college/pro coach's?? All the time.

And the real reason? They weren't winning.

It's the same thing. Let them down easy in public.

"egregious rogue behavior" is letting them down easy in public?

And the sports comparison doesn't apply. We're talking about a possible world leader here.

This so called scandal is a joke. Obama sends his 30 high priced lawyer hacks to dig up scandal on Palin and this is all they get? The dude tasered a kid! This is a non story being exagerrated by a media who has a horse in this race.

Oh sure, that's what you say. :rotfl:

Now see, this is one of those instances when you realize how much things get taken out of context on a televised interview. It happens with both sides by the way.

Thanks for posting that link.

What's weird is that I watched the interview and I would have sworn that they left all of that in. :confused3

Did you watch it on 20/20 last Friday? I know they played different pieces of it at different times, but that night I'm sure that stuff was played. That or I'm hallucinating. :cutie:

The governor has given so many different reasons for firing Monegan I've lost count. From the "we need new direction" and "new energy" to "he wasn't hiring enough cops," to "he wasn't doing enough about alcohol in the bush" to "he lobbied for budget increases" to the latest version, which is a doozy; Monegan displayed "egregious rogue behavior."

The governor also originally said that neither she, Todd nor anyone from her administration pressured Monegan regarding Trooper Wooten. Palin then was forced to admit there was serial contact once the Frank Bailey tape surfaced. But she insisted she was just learning of it. But e-mails have surfaced detailing Palin complaining to Monegan about Wooten.

The governor also originally said an investigation was needed and promised to cooperate. Then she instructed her employees not to talk to the investigator and has herself refused to be interviewed.

I am shocked...

NOT

So Obama sent in high priced lawyers before he even know McCain was going to nominate Palin to dig up dirt on troopergate. The accusations of abuse of power were made well before anybody knew she was even on the short list of VP nominees.

And I thought it was 400 lawyers? Can't you guys even get those stories coordinated?

Let's start nearer the begining - the investigation was initiated by the Alaska Legislature WELL BEFORE Gov. Palin was selected by Sen. McCain. There are many more than 30 Republican operatives in Alaska working on the stall.

My biggest problem with the whole thing is Todd Palin. What does he have to do with personnel issues in Alaska? Why was he conducting government business in the governor's office without her present? Why is he involved at all? It's not his job.

It's preparation for being king of Alaska when the seperatists win out and Alaska joins OPEC. He wants to avoid the critism of inexperience his wife is facing.

Just so you know, this is not true:

Digging for "Dirt"

The ad also quotes the Wall Street Journal as saying that the Obama campaign "air-dropped a mini-army of 30 lawyers, investigators and opposition researchers to dig dirt on Governor Palin." That's also a distortion. The Wall Street Journal opinion article did not say that the Obama team was there to "dig dirt." It said they were there to "dig into her record and background." Maybe the McCain-Palin campaign knows something we don't about what's in Palin's record and background.

The full quote, from an item by conservative columnist John Fund, dated Sept. 9:

WSJ's John Fund, Sept. 9: Democrats have airdropped a mini-army of 30 lawyers, investigators and opposition researchers into Anchorage, the state capital Juneau and Mrs. Palin's hometown of Wasilla to dig into her record and background. My sources report the first wave arrived in Anchorage less than 24 hours after John McCain selected her on August 29.

Fund said the opposition researchers were mainly interested in a controversy surrounding Palin's firing of her public safety commissioner, Walt Monegan. Monegan has claimed he was dismissed because he wouldn't fire a state trooper who was in a divorce battle with Palin's sister; the Alaska Legislature is investigating whether Palin acted properly. Fund also stated that the Palin family has accused the trooper of "using a Taser on his 10-year-old stepson, drinking in his patrol car and illegally shooting a moose."

Try and get some facts right before you smear someone, as you so easily accuse the Dems of doing...

He probably is recruiting for the War Between the States II

I'm trying to understand the outrage here. Wooten was a bad guy. He threatened to kill someone. He tasered his own child.

.

The bad guy being a bad guy doesn't give the good guys the right to act like bad guys. In law, the ends don't justify the means.
