Stop complaining, you're ruining the mood!

I'm pretty new to disboards, and while there is SOOOO much wonderful information here, I'm kind of surprised at how much negativity about Disney there is.

Now, I'm not perfect, and I do complain about specific things from time to time, but the last time I checked no one was being forced to travel to Disney. So why all the complaints?

Perhaps a separate forum for Whining, Complaining and Negativity?

I don't like clicking on an interesting, informative post that suddenly turns into Disney bashing. If you don't like their policies, old or new, don't go. Simple as that.

There are definitely concerns, questions and problems that arise that do need to be asked, discussed and debated and everyone is entitled to their opinion; however some people take it too far.

I'm not trying to be all high and mighty, just trying to keep the magic alive and the planning of our annual trips a positive experience!

Thanks to all of the wonderful people here!

Disboards has always been the place for whining. I've been here since 1997 (planned my honeymoon), and that is one thing that hasn't changed. Call it human nature, I guess.

If complaints are ruining the mood, why did you post a long one that has absolutely nothing to do with theme park strategies?

Like any board, I figure it's best to let the owner/moderators decide what they want on the board or not. They own it and run it, not me.

If there is something that you think is a violation, report it to the moderator by clicking the little report button on every post. The Ignore Function is also helpful, you can ignore members entirely.

The Trip Reports board tends to be pretty happy and helpful. And other places around the internet, the Lines app chat comes to mind. And on the flip side, some other Disney-related forums are way more negative than this.

We're complaining because we love Disney and now they're taking away the wonderful way of how we tour the parks. I've been going since 1972 and have seen a lot of changes and imo, this one isn't for the better. Less FPs, waiting in long lines, waiting in long kiosk lines, more planning with a glitchy website, doesn't encourage park hopping, tiered rides and higher ticket prices. That's what makes us sad!! Less park experience for the money. I'm hoping they make some changes. I don't want to stop going to DW. It's a big part of my life!!

the title of your thread forced "not now, honey, I have a headache" into my head and I'm cracking myself up over here :rotfl2:

I don't understand how anyone can be upset about
Disney. Most of the complaints that I've read or not
Disney's fault and is the problem of the one posting it, but
like to blame others.

I find the complaining about the complaining threads to be more annoying than the actual complaining. (And of course, I'm now complaining about the complaining about the complaining, which probably tops it all :lmao: )

But really, have you never been on an internet board? It's what people do.

And this is just naïve. I'm pretty sure it's Disney's fault that I now have to choose between a Soarin' and a Test Track FP.

I figured people would complain about my post! LOL.

I'm pretty sure the Disney execs don't sit around all day going "How can we annoy millions of customers today?"

What about every traveler before 1999 who had NO option other than waiting in line for every ride they wanted? At least now you can ensure a few of your favorites :)

I think much of the bad experiences people have and share can help people make a more informed decision since there is so much to do on your vacation it is nice to make more informed decisions.

I think there is wayyyy to much negativity in people jumping on other people for every word out of place. For example some of the quick responses you received were very unwarranted and in my opinion there are quite a few people on here quick to be rude and condescending.

You can get some really good information and if you can avoid the negative stuff not designed to be helpful then I think you will learn a lot about the ins and outs of Disney. I know I have picked up a lot of useful information and fun facts (even from some of the people who I would say are on average argumentative).

Before my last trip I asked about the Micky's not so scary halloween party and if it was worth it. Many people said yes and many said no and gave their reasons some negative but it was all good information. :goodvibes

Yeah, I kind of agree... people are very quick to complain, and go after people who do have compliments. But I can't imagine that's going to change, any time soon. Welcome to the forum, in any case!

:thumbsup2 It's about finding your own balance on the boards, but the reason I prefer doing much of my planning and research this way rather than reading solely out of a guide book is exactly as stated. 99% might love something and 1% explain why they don't. If I happen to be part of that 1% those few responses are so valuable in helping me make an informed decision; or I may go with the majority but be alerted to things to keep in mind, thanks to the input of the minority. You need at least two sides to have a discussion. The most diverse information comes from discussions between people who don't agree.

Something else that is worth keeping in mind is that tones often get misinterpreted when they are read in text as opposed to talking to someone in person where you may interpret their input very differently with the benefit of body language, facial expressions and tone of voice. Obviously not talking about blatant rudeness, but I also think there are people who think that anyone who disagrees with them is being rude or insulting.

All factors worth remembering. :goodvibes

I'm also pretty sure DIS members don't sit around all day going "how can we annoy robndani today?"

What about every traveller who went between 1999 and 2013 who had TONS of other options than waiting in line for every ride they wanted? I don't think there's too many of us advocating for no FP at all, just saying. By the way, crowds of today and stand by lines are not comparable to pre FP days. Lines were long, but there is a huge difference standing in a stand by line without any FP cutting the line off.

As a newbie it's to be expected.

Better to not be under any delusions prior to arriving than getting smacked with reality once your in a park.

I've been going to Disney for 33 years and to be honest, I really never complained... not had much to complain about until this past year or so.

As a guest and a stock holder I have a right to voice my concerns. Granted I sold off a lot of shares in the past few months because I feel their stock is going to suffer as they continue to ignore their long time customers but that's another topic.

This made me chuckle... haha!! :rotfl2:

But they're taking away what we had. I waited in plenty of lines before FP and it was awful. Sooo happy when FP came out. Now paying more to get less. It's like taking a step backwards. Why would you want to waste your park time waiting in long lines especially if you go during the summer in 90 degree heat and maybe with a toddler. It isn't fun . I've done it.
