Does anyone have the stomach bug that is going around?
How long is this going to last? I'm leaving for vacation in the morning.

If it's Norwalk or something along those lines, generally about 36 hours from onset of symptoms. It's HIGHLY contagious and you'll be doign a lot of people a favor by postponing for a day rather than possibly giving it to hundreds of others. It can be passed through the most casual of contact, but most often by people who don't wash after using the toilet. I had it a few years back, it was horrid.

Well, I wasn't aware of a stomach bug "going around." YIKES!!

Most causes of "stomach bug" are food-borne illness. Meaning either contaminated food of some sort or a person handling food that themselves has an intestinal illness. Very few are viral.

Fortunately the bad phase usually lasts 24-36 hours but you'll probably feel like crap for a few days.

I started Tuesday morning, I do feel better just not 100%, I thought by today I'd be fine. Not sure if I want to start eating "normal" food.

I had something like this last winter, but I'm not convinced that it wasn't something that I ate. I felt acutely sick (nausea, vomiting) for about 36 hours, and then had, uh, the other end for like 5 days afterwards. That part was BAD, too, but it wasn't as bad as the acute nausea, shakes, etc. There is really nothing you can do but let it run it's course and don't let yourself get dehydrated :(

Please, please keep all your germs far far away from me! ;)

Hope everyone is feeling better soon.

Last night Emily came in the door and said that Hannah was sick, that she was throwing up. I ran to the door and found that poor Hannah took one too many turns around the tire swing, and was having a little motion sickness problem.

My daughter has a gastrointestinal virus according to her doctor. She has had diarrhea for the last two weeks and threw up for a week before that. We have had to rotate between me, my husband and my mom being home to take care of her. All this time off work and still having to pay for daycare is just killing us! I can't remember the last time we've been this broke. Plus we feel so badly for her to have this for so long. She had the meanest diaper rash last week.
So I hope no one has to endure it for that long!!!

I feel for you! My son is now 10 but I *clearly* remember when he got the dreaded "rotovirus". He vomited and had diarrhea for what seemed like two weeks. He seemed to feel okay and continued to eat, but it just wouldn't stop. And they won't let you into daycare with that, even though that's where he got it!

I had it last Friday. Woke up with horrid pain in my stomach. It was awful. I actually called in sick and I never do that. :( I stayed in bed until way past noon. I started to feel better by the evening Saturday, and a lot better by Sunday.

hi all,
not sure where you all are,but a few of the guys at the fire house have a bug.two of them had horrible stomache pains and voimiting.the other two well lets just say the vomit went down the other route than up.but yes i know about 7-8 people that have stomache bug's in the last week alone.

You can say that again. We ALL got it on our last trip to WDW in August. One by one, we dropped like flies....it was horrible. We've never had a vacation where all of us were sick, and hopefully never will again!

To the OP -- hope you get to feeling better asap!

Last year I got it when I was in Disney, talk about feeling like caca in the happiest place on earth, for the last 3 days I couldn't eat anything

Let me join the list too. Friday I evening I started feeling a bit off. Then Saturday evening I was alternating between nasty stomach pains and intense nausea but no vomiting but then in the middle of the night intestinal cramping and then you know what. All day Sunday for the most part I laid in bed curled up. Today Monday my stomach feels better but everything down south is still messed up...blech!!!!

And you know I'm tired of saltine crackers!

On the upside I have lost weight of course I wouldnt recomend this to anybody though :crazy2:

I had it for the first and last time a few years ago. All of my class was sick. It got ugly fast, because one person would get over it and come back to school, then get sick again. There was one day that like 4 people came to class. it was that bad.

I just got this from my DH again - and he had gotten it from my DD again. We're washing everything, not kissing, washing hands, etc. etc., so I don't get why we can't stop passing this! At least mine only lasted two days this time. But still, this is getting crazy.
