stoller ideas for older kids

I agree completely. I was trying hard not to offer my opnion but....I have a son 10yrs old in a wheelchair. (I'll try not to vent) He is congnitively 1 year old. He cannot wait in lines. He will cry the whole time. He also will grab the people around him. Do you want my kid grabbing you? Not on purpose of course but he doesnt know any better. We do use access to go to the front of the line I take my DH and other DS w/ us in line. (he is 4). I DO NOT take him on a line he is not ale to go on. I also do not abuse this feature. BUT I do see people doing it and want to say something to them.

About wheelchairs banging into people. I WILL TAKE YOUR KID AND YOU TAKE MINE AND TRY TO DEAL WITH THAT WHEELCHAIR EVERYDAY OF YOUR LIFE. NO ONE EVER DOES IT ON PURPOSE. GOD, people can be so mean. Sorry if I went off. I had to erase half of what I wrote..

I thank God every day that I have been blessed with 2 healthy children. My heart breaks for you and any parent dealing with a handicapped child. I can't imagine what it is like. When I see people in wheelchairs, I say a little prayer of thanks that it is not me or someone in my family. My mom is handicapped and I see how hard it is for her. She won't go to WDW because she doesn't want to use a scooter. I know noone would choose to use a wheelchair. Also if you need to go the front of the line, be my guest. You deserve it.

I just saw this thread today. I took my 3 and 5 year old last May 04. We will be going back in Oct 05 and my son will be 7. I plan to get him a stroller and I certainly think it is my business to do so. My son is very slow and likes to wonder around oblivious. While this is all well and good most places I can't have him doing this at Disney. We will be with my whole family and I don't want him getting lost or holding everyone up. Not to mention I just know he will be tired and no he does not have any medical condition besides just being a little kid. For all the posters who said just take a break believe me we will.

Hmm this is way outta hand for a topic. Have fun debating this one. I am definitely getting out of this. Have fun everyone :wave2:

about a sit and stand...what is this and where can you get one? Does anyone have a photo or a good description of it???

I'm taking two four year olds this weekend for 7 days and I sure would rather do this than rent one.

Amen-

In June I am going with a child who is 10. You will see her riding her scooter or sitting in her stroller or me carrying her. If she bumps into people with her scooter it will be because it is crowded and her reflexes aren't as fast and sometimes in the excitement it will be because she wasn't paying attention. If you see her in her stroller she would do anything to get out of that darn thing. Shes been in it her whole life and would love to jump up and "run over there" to see that cool thing that looks interesting instead of asking whoever is pushing her to take her over. And if you see me carrying her onto a ride or letting her "walk" (she can't walk unaided) please do not be impatient. We do not try to take as long as we sometimes do. My last wish is that you smile and be happy that you don't end the day with sore arms and an aching back from lifting 70 lbs on and off rides. I am lucky though because my back and arms will be sore only because I helped my favorite little girl in the entire world have one of the greatest days of her life. Just like you, with your children. Have fun pushing the stroller, as long as that smile is on their face.
