Stolen Stroller at Disneyland It Happens

If we hadn't taken my (then) two year old..we wouldn't have won the Dream Suite. I think she was pretty valuable that trip and she had to have a stroller hehe

Oh are you the one who won that and posted pics of it? I was telling my sister & niece about it. I need to find that post and send it to them.

I totally did, but I bet the pictures don't show up anymore..I moved my photobucket!! But if they want some pics sometime let me know..I can post them again :)

I don't get why people leave things in a stroller. My friend left her purse and everything else in there. She got it all stolen. I was in an ECV this trip and I left a bag of stuff in the basket, but nothing important. I got back from a ride and somebody had rifled through it and taken my cookies and a bottle of water. More power to them to steal that, but imagine if I had left my phone or my camera as DH kept telling me to do?

Now that is low a cookie & a bottled water. We had bottled waters, diet pepsi, and snacks on the bottom. My sister even had her tennis shoes on top of that. I really think it was a kid trying to be funny who took the stroller.

My sister was talking to some lady in the park. She told my sister her husband insisted on bringing a ipad to the park. Well they went on a ride and her husband forgot and left it on the stroller luckly nobody took it.

Oh I would love to see them again. If you ever get time to do that. They don't post on here but I always send them links to read.

They asked me who gets to stay in the dream suites. I said well somebody on the disboards did. LOL!!

I'm glad you got it back! I think that expensive strollers, especially with things in them, would be a much bigger target. I've gone to DL with cheap-ish strollers and never had an issue. But we don't leave anything valuable or anything that looks valuable in them.

I rented two DL strollers for 3 days and on the last day one of them was hijack. The only things I lost was 2 bananas, a used bottle water, apple juice and sandwich bag of chips.

It was just frustrating. I found another DL stroller that didn't have a nameplate and just took that one because it was at the monorail station. It was completely emptied so I didn't feel like I was borrowing someone else stroller.

Had there not been a DL stroller w/o a nameplate, i would have walked over and got a new one. I hope the peeps who took our stuff really needed it. They must have been very hungry to take other peeps snacks and used/lukewarm drinks.

Makes you wonder how the could afford to get in the park if they can't afford to bring a bottled water & snacks from home.

I've tried to tell people this before so I'm glad you posted your story. I have family members who work at the park and have heard stories of people who do come in just to steal strollers.

Our Maclaren was taken once. We found a woman who didn't speak English with her sleeping child in it. As soon as my husband said something like that's our stroller, she gave him an evil glare and removed her child. It was an odd experience.

While the easy answer would be: Don't bring a stroller to Disneyland... if your child still needs one, they are too young to be there and you are wasting your money.

Some of my favorite memories are taking my 16 month old daughter to DL for the first time. Yes we had a stroller. But we had the time of our lives and it was worth every penny we spent to see her chase Winnie the Pooh around the Plaza Inn!

I wonder if people think empty places to sit are okay to sit in. I posted this in a different thread, but I got off the teacups and people were sitting in my ECV with kids all over it. THey looked like I had grown ten heads when I demanded they get off and told them they were really disrespectful. I think they saw a chair and sat it int . I believe they were really offended when I took out clorox wipes and wiped it down.

You are kidding me... I love that you took out the clorox wipes in front them. We did the same thing with the stroller wiped it all down when we got back to the hojo. We even tossed all the food including a can neosure formula which is a pricey formula for preemie babies.

Heck yeah, I cleaned it! No offense to anybody, but kids are a breeding ground for germs and I was already susceptible due to the surgery that put me in the ECV to start with. I will tell you it was a bizarre vacation, what with the cookie stealing and the ECV sitting. I truly believe that people just don't have a clue. Now, the OP's stroller got stolen, but a lot of the things that happen are I think a factor that people are just ding dongs and don't think before they do things!

I totally LOL'd at the mental image of you cloroxing the seat. I'm a tiny bit of a germaphobe (recovering..I'm working on it LOL) so I totally appreciate the need to do so..and I LOVE that you did it pointedly in front of them. I REALLY hope you looked them right in the eye as you SLOWLY wiped it down. Because I totally would have HAHAHAHHA

My OB/GYN NP says, "Kids are dirty little people!" :rotfl:

I read the ECV thread in the other forum but I missed the cookie theft one. :scared1:

I agree with the 'cheapy stroller' approach. I did this at WDW and DL. I bought an umbrella stroller for about $20 (including shipping) on EBay and had it sent to Florida, so it was there when we arrived. We left it with the Goodwill when we departed and even got a small tax writeoff for the charitable donation. Best of all, we didn't have to take the stroller on the plane.

For DL, we drove, and I was able to use one of the 'free' umbrella strollers they sometimes give away at Babies R Us with a large purchase.

Also, I have used the 'dirty diaper' trick, and so have many of my friends who took much more expensive strollers. You just take a diaper (not used) and pour some water in so it swells up, then smear some brown gunk (friend of mine used Hershey's syrup, I used BBQ sauce) at the leg openings... so that the diaper looks well used. Then put it in a clear plastic bag and tie it to the handle of your stroller. Trust me, NO ONE will want to touch that stroller!

EWWWWWW. I don't know if I could stomach that, even knowing it was fake. I'd much rather buy a stroller wheel lock!!! (and Im sure the other people at the park would agree!!!) :thumbsup2

Dirty diaper trick that is funny.. Not sure I could handle that either. LOL

Okay, the "dirty diaper" trick is hilarious! As a non-parent, that would DEFINITELY keep me away from even moving your stroller out of the way. :rotfl:

But... why could you not handle looking at what you KNOW is water and Hershey's syrup? That's funny to me, too! ;)
