Stolen Disney Magic

I'm so sorry this happened to you. I recently left a bag at the mall and returned less than 5 minutes later to find it gone. I'm still upset about.

Anyway, most people are honest. When I was there this Jan I found valuables twice. First, while in a store on Main Street, an older gentleman in front of me at the registers dropped a wad of cash on the floor and didn't notice it all. I immediately picked it up and handed it to him. The second I was at the tables at Sunshine seasons at Epcot waiting for my friend. I noticed a room key under a table where a family was sitting. I asked them their first name, it matched and I gave them the card.

DH left his ticket once in a fast pass machine. He returned less than a minute later and it was gone. It still had several days on it. Luckily, we went to guest services and they replaced his ticket and canceled the lost one.

Anyway, when I went in Jan, I had a lot of Disney Dollars and Disney Gift Cards (thanks to GPT sites!). I bought a small purse that crosses over the chest and has a little fold down zip pocket that holds everything so organized. I knew that keeping up with 2 kids on my own would be a challenge in itself, I didn't want to worry about taking my wallet out and leaving it on the register, ect. Even though I'll have DH in tow this time, I plan on using it again. The purse is right in front me, it crosses over my chest so no one can grab it and run off and everything is held so neatly and organized. Plus I don't want to be carrying around my coach, just another thing to worry about getting stolen.

It really stinks that someone stole the money, but it was very fortunate that they did not take the entire wallet, throw it in a trash can. I would have felt VERY fortunate to have the wallet back with everything BUT the $$. It's such a pain to have to replace DLicense, IDs, credit cards, etc.

The thief probably quickly grabbed the wallet, took the $$, then threw it down and got the heck out of there.

I have two experiences in this arena (good and bad)

First, my grandfather left his video camera in the bathroom in MK, realized it, and walked right back in, only to find it gone... It was a cheapie VHS one, but the bad thing is the tape that was in there had some unreplaceable footage on it (and of course no memories of that trip to WDW)

The other, this past December I rode Soarin' with the kids... I carry around a nice Nikon D-70 with hign end lens and big flash (very similar rig to what the photopass people use) Well I got of the ride, walked out and about the time I got almost down the ramp (^%^%#$!!!!) Well I went around and told the CM, she of course gave me the lost and found story... I had to tell her LOOK this is a $2500 camera rig!!! Her face turned to horror and had someone escort me the back way around to get into the ride once it was done... It wasnt in my seat, but an older couple had sat there and was carrying it out telling the CM's that someone (ME) left their camera behind... Gotta say that was close

Similar situation. Lost my wallet in the Saratoga Springs Resort area, I think while eating there. Realized it within 20 minutes of returning back to our room. Returned and searched, checked with front desk, and amazingly it had been turned in there. It had not only my credit cards, driver's license and park tickets and such but also park tickets and room keys for all 3 of my kids. Of course, I also had about $100 cash in there that was GONE but I was just so thankful to have the other stuff. We did put a watch on our credit cards but nothing suspicious came up on those. I guess I just had to put the whole thing in perspective. Yeah, it sucked to lose that much cash but in the grand scheme of bad things that can happen, this one wasn't really in the top ten.

OP-So sorry this happened. I can't imagine the kind of person that would do that. I think of the first time I took my kids to Disney and it was on a wing and a prayer. Heaven forbid I had lost my cash, we would have been sitting in our resort room for the rest of the vacation until it was time to go home. On the bright side at least the rest of the wallet was found. It is a huge pain to have to go and get all your credit cards and id reissued.
