Okay, cleaning out the cupboards, fridge & freezer tomorrow and then will be going shopping. What are your must have items while living on Atkins (especially induction!)?

Am I driving you all insane yet? I'm just really ready to get going with this and the book won't be here till Thursday....ARGH!

1) If you like salad (and I REALLY hope you do! ;) then get all the veggies you use in your salad and get a good, LOW carb dressing. Watch the serving sizes as you pick it out---caesar seems to be a lower carb dressing--my favorite is Ken's Steakhouse Aged Parmesan Italian (or something like that--it is not in front of me right now)
2) Again, salad stuff--the toppings, shredded cheese (keep it minimal, 3-4 oz on Induction), REAL bacon bits, feta Cheese, etc
3) Cauliflower--again, hope you like it. Personally, even if you don't like it, I would try it. Steam it so it is really soft, mash up a half cup or so, add butter and cream cheese and some bacon bits and voila---a mashed potato substitute. Get creative, use shredded cheese etc. The consistency is different, but the taste is awsome IMHO!
4) Meat of all types, chicken, tuna, any fish etc
5) Eggs
6) Muenster cheese--only .3 carbs per slice! I go over the 3-4 oz on this one, usually eat 5-6 and get less carbs but more cheese!

Those are my top foods, there its soooo much more but I would say these are the main foods I use. I do not need a lot of variety in my diet, I really don't get bored with these foods. If you DO find yourself getting bored, get new recipes etc....don't quit because your'e bored--there are lots of things you can eat so focus on those and NOT on the things you cannot eat!

It is a lot easier than it sounds---trust me! I hope this helps!

I keep lots of water on hand. As far as food must haves: tuna, eggs, celery, bacon, broccoli, deli roast beef(grab a slice if I'm running out the door), SUGAR FREE JELLO(a true life saver), pepperoni with a little melted mozarella. I would read over the induction list and make your shopping list right from that. Variety is important to keep you from getting bored. Don't forget to pick up a multivitamin too. I had really bad leg cramps and I think it was because I didn't start right off with a vitamin. Good luck!!

Always keep hard boiled eggs on hand...they are great for a quick snack or for breakfast if you tend to eat on the run.

Butter and mayo are important because you must add fat to your food.

celery and cream cheese
eggs
bacon (lots of it)
cheese
deli smoked turkey breast
deli roast beef
and lots of ground beef ( scramble it up and brown it/ divide in serving size containers and sprinkle some shredded cheese ** and voila*** and ?cheeseburger? ready to go)

and lots of salad fixins

Oh and after induction BJ's has a good size container of roasted almonds that I snack on all the time.
Good Luck!

Tammie
