22 November 2008: Stitch's SuperSonic Celebration coming in April 2009

According to a Disney audition notice, the new Stitch show set to open in April 2009 in Tomorrowland is to be called 'Stitch's SuperSonic Celebration'.

"Disney Auditions is seeking male vocalists and comedic actors for a brand new show in the Magic Kingdom® Park at the Walt Disney World® Resort near Orlando, FL opening in April, 2009! Stitch's SuperSonic Celebration will incorporate cutting edge technology, comedic improvisation, and dynamic choreography all set to energetic, stylized music that will make this party out of this world!"

I assume this will be at the stage next tot he Carousel of Progress? I would assume that it will not be taking the place of Stitch's Great Escape...even though I think that should be converted to another attraction.

"woop de doo bazel" - austin powers
you get the idea

Maybe there are plans to do away with the Stitch's Great Escape attraction, but they don't want backlash from the stitch lovers.. so they are adding this attraction... ???

Let's hope so.

Yeah, I doubt they would have two Stich attractions. So does that mean they are getting rid of Stitch's Great Escape? Its definetly not my favorite in the MK, my family usually skips it, so to replace it would be nice. I love Stitch, but I think they could make something better.

Aren' they eliminating that stage next year to "expand" employee parking?

with all the cuts in CM hours I can't see why they would do that.

I would hope most people bypass stitch's great escape. Afterall the ride can be summed up as "bla bla bla, ew that's gross, bla bla bla, the end"

I always laugh at the suckers waiting in line. What a waste of time!

There are rides at Disney that I don't love, but Stitch's Great Escape is the only one that I hate. From the moment it started until the moment I walked out, I just wished that it would end. My children absolutely hated it with a passion. The sooner they close that, the better.

 My family would love this! And my son is a such a die hard Stitch fan, that he claims he even loves the current attraction :rotfl: . For him, the quality can be extremely low as long as its about Stitch.

Yes, it's for the new Tomorrowland street party being created for next year's Celebrations promotion. They're not getting rid of SGE and it's not going into the Galaxy Palace Theater. But it will be nearby. Remember where they used to have the HSM show in Tomorrowland, before it moved to DHS? That's the area where it'll be. :)

My sister (whom is 20 years old now) loved Stitch's Great Escape when we went to WDW. It was a fun attraction, I loved the Stitich Audio-Animatronic, the story behind what was happening, I didn't know what the "chili hot dog" scent was because I'm a vegetarian but my sister told me what it was; we could still smell it in the gift shop.

Yeah, it would be great if they got rid of SGE. I absolutely abhorred that ride. The Stitch show sounds kind of like the Monster's Inc. comedy show, only adding music. I guess it could be cool (especially if it would replace SGE!!!) but it sounds a little redundant.

ha ha.. yes, huge stitch fans in my house too! and it is low quality but we love it because we love Stitch!

I heard about this show on another thread and I think it sounds like fun.

One.... person's opinion. I enjoy the attraction, just as I enjoyed Alien Encounter. Others do too. Are there better attractions? Heck yes... but then there are also FAR worse ones as well.

Other's of us like the ride and enjoy having it at Disney. But of course, YOUR opinin should be the only one that counts... my bad, I forgot.

Agreed......:thumbsup2

Yitbos96bb, you are right is a matter of opinion. The only other WDW attraction that I can think of it that would be as bad as SGE for me is HISTA. Ack!

*sigh*
My friend says that the only thing that they use that stage for in tomorrowland is for the magic music days thing. To me, that's sooo lame! They could use it for something instead of letting it sit there rotting to death.
I think that SGE is a great CONCEPT for a stitch attraction, but completely failed in the process. This show will hopefully redeem the fact that SGE is not that good of an attraction.

I didn't like the Stitch attraction either, and my kids are 100% together on never going back to that one. Funny since my kids love the movie and they find bodily functions to be very funny.
