Stitch Ride?

We are huge Stitch fans and enjoy the attraction, but must admit we were a little disappointed our first time. We think Stitch deserves better!

Also, we liked Alien Encounter, but that attraction was one of the most hated at WDW and received tons of negative feedback. I believe the seats are the same, and were not replaced for the Stitch attraction.

In any case, I recommend you trying it out. Beware of the chili dog!

I would like to ask all the STITCH fans: WHY are those seats so CONFINING.

I mean it is after-all NOT a ride. It has been so long since I was on it (although I did love AE) I don't remember if the seats move, BUT I don't think so, so why are we locked IN so???? :confused3

Is it because they just didn't want people getting up due to being scared in the dark on the old AE ride and never changed the system?

THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY :thumbsup2

I was wondering IF it did indeed have something to do with the dark and people wanting to maybe leave......hhmmmm!

You're NOT locked-in (but that's what you were SUPPOSED to THINK on AE).

The harness serves several "special effects" purposes.

1. It contains your individual audio earphones (the ride is created in "binaural" stereo sound). The harness is designed so that the earphones align properly with your ears so the sound will work properly. The binaural sound is what makes it SOUND like there are other guests "reacting" to the action, as well as the sound of things, people, "aliens" behind or all around you... its all in the special audio track.

2. The harness "moves" (touches your shoulders) when Stitch is "running around the room".

3. The harness contains the air-cannons that allow for "hot breath" (or similar) effects.

4. The harness contains the "aroma aerator" that allows for the "chili-dog" aroma. (And folks, its not a REAL chili-dog, ITS JUST A JOKE, for cryin' out loud.) :goodvibes

5. The harness contains (contained) the "flippers" that made it feel like the Alien was "touching" you near your head.

If you don't LIKE the harness, you can simply push it up, out of the way with not much arm pressure. But its the KEY to most of the effects in this attraction.

Its actually very creative how the Imagineers designed so much "interactivity" in an apparatus that's "disguised" as a "restraint".

Stitch's GE and AE are very advanced attractions.
I marvel at the creativity, care, and trouble they went to, to make a unique attraction, unlike most others at WDW.

But I know that all seems lost on many here, so I'll just shut up about it.

:rotfl2:

Not so much, no.

WELL ROBO:
After reading your reply (BTW THANK YOU) I agree that these are quite unique seats BUT the first time I saw AE I guess I was NOT sitting properly upright when the harness came down and so for the entire show I was like in a crunched position trying to enjoy AE, as you know once the harness STOPS it cannot be adjusted! UGH! Uncomfortable to say the least! Then when I went to see STITCH, I made sure I was sitting UP WAY TALLER than I actually am so that when "harness" stopped I would have allot of room to move around comfortably! :thumbsup2

Wow, that is allot of info on the HARNESS! I am impressed. :disrocks:

That was interesting info ROBO! Thanks. And others - thanks for the info on making the seats a little more comfortable - I wasn't too squished but it was a little unnerving!

I enjoyed Stitch.

Everyone needs to go on a ride and decide for themselves (unless they are trying to figure out if their little ones would like it - then they need to listen to those who have little ones!).

There are other rides that I don't like and don't enjoy but I know others do ... no right or wrong here!

Robo -
Thanks so much for your post! It made me feel MUCH better about going on it! I happen to like the special effects *rides* at WDW....like even thought I think that guy who hangs out with Figment is annoying...I still go on the ride. And I LOVE that thing at RPW with Grandmother Willow talking and you hear animals behind you...

I appreciate the info...I will remember to sit tall and hold my breath! (of course I won't warn my brother about the burp...that will make up for all the years he burped in my face!! LoL :rotfl2:

As I mentioned earlier on this thiread, I am not a fan of the Stitch attraction, but my DS 6 is a HUGE fan and must go through it several times. I have noticed also on other threads on this board that most people mentioning that their children love it while most of the adults don't seem to care for it much. I know that there are some adults who really like it and that shows the difference between each persons taste. I would make a guess that Disney is not overly concerned about how much adults like the Stitch attraction as they are concerned that the kids like it. If this is so I believe that probably have a hit then. I think most kids do like it (I know there are some who don't) and they have to visit the attraction several times. It also gives them something that they really enjoy that their parents don't, and for some children this would be special and cool.

Just an observation after reading a number of different post about Stitches Great Escape.

Actually, you CAN "adjust it".

Its just that most folks think you CAN"T (or they might break it , or set off an alarm, or...).

After the harness "locks" to its final position, just "shove UP" on it a bit.
It will move to any position, manually.
(Don't be afraid to PUSH it... it will be fine.)

Actually mine was a genuine question rather than a jeapordy question.
I see someone answered it.

Oh Geez. I see I left the default instant email notification on. I'll take what to do to flood your in box for 500 Alex.

Changing to do not subscribe.

Oh Geez, is that final "jeapordy" category spelling alex? I risk zero.

We just returned from our 8 day WDW trip. Though we went during a very busy time, we rarely waited longer than 15-20 per ride, using FP all over the place, and going early...or late during EMH. WE rode EVERYTHING we wanted. I wanted to try Stitch. The stand-by line posted 20 minutes and line didn't 'look' bad. HOWEVER, we didn't see that the line wrapped around the building! Now, we didn't ever like Alien Encounter - and we didn't like this at all...and we are HUGE Stitch fans. Seemed to me that the Disney Imagineers just added a cute character and changed the theme and thus the new attraction was born. Been there, done that, these 5 DISers will not do again. But try it yourself, once...it's popular with the younger set!

2 Ds's - they ADORE the stitch attraction....me? I can take it or leave it, but they always make me take it! :lmao:

The Stitch ride is nothing more than a downgraded-resurfaced Alien Encounter ride which it 'replaced.' It appears Disney wanted to replace the Alien Encounter ride since it scared young children but did not have the capital to really replace it with a new and unique ride.

So they victimized and insulted Stitch fans with a resurfaced ride.

Children love the ride just because it contains Stitch and do not have the intellectual mind set to understand th epossibilities of what a real Stitch ride could of provided.
