Stitch Ride - Be Warned!

We tried the Stitch ride out over Halloween with a 12, 9, and 5 year old. You are trapped in your seats by shoulder harnesses that don't go up till the event? not ride-you don't go anywhere- is over. During that time it is sometimes dark and they try to build up the suspense that an Alien is loose. None of my kids were close to scared. The older two were disappointed (they were waiting for something to happen and nothing really does) and complained quite a bit that their shoulder braces pushed down too far when they locked and hurt for the whole time. Mine did but then went up as it locked into place so I wasn't uncomfortable. The five year old wanted her seat to move. We all love Lilo and Stitch but wouldn't wait in line for this again.

I have reservations about taking our DD, who will be 8 when we go, on Stitch. I don't want to scare her into not wanting to do anything else dark. I wasn't impressed with AE the one time I went on it. It was'nt scary, I just did'nt really enjoy it. It's a shame too, because Lilo and Stitch is one of our favorite Disney movies.

We just got back from Disney last night...and did the stich ride with our boys...aged 10 and 7. They loved it. The ride is great for this age, not scary at all. I think there are MANY rides at Disney that would be traumatic for preschoolers, such as BUgs life, and snow white! I don't think stich is any worse than those ones. When our kids were small, we just avoided anything iffy! We knew we would have a chance to ride everything when they got older. This trip was exhausting...cause they wanted to ride everything...twice!

The only horrible thing to me about the stich ride was the burp! I felt like I could smell it all day! It was really yucky!

My 5 year old and 8 year old loved this attraction, and they are both scaredy cats!

My 5 year old for example does not like the Haunted Mansion.

I didn't think it was a fantastic show but it was quite cute. I nearly did not go on though as I'd read so much (mostly negative) about it, but I'm glad I went on this for myself.

I Hated this ride! I had always liked Alien Encounter, and I thought it was one of the neatest special effects shows around. I was sad to hear it was gone and was eager to see disney top themselves. They did not change a thing, the only difference is that instead of a horrible alien, we have a "cute" little blue monster. I liked AE because it was NOT for children, it was something that appealed to the teenagers and adults. Now disney has tried to target it for children, but they still have all the creepy effects with the tongue and the breath for the teenagers and adults. So now, the children are freaked out by the interactive creepy effects, and the adults are dissapointed with the thin story and screaming kids. In trying to please EVERYbody, Disney has pleased NObody.

I did it in February and there were probably a half dozen screaming kids in there. I felt badly for them.

Well, maybe they didn't like how you felt them badly? :rotfl:

Stitch was hands down the worst ride I've ever been on. I'd rather sit through "It's A Small World" for an entire day than go on Stitch again.

DH rode the Stitch ride last week and is still talking about how horrible it was. Everytime he saw a Stitch stuffed toy or Stitch's image on a monorail or bus (it's everywhere!) he just said "HORRIBLE!" He said it might be the worst attraction he has ever seen at any park he has ever been to. The only thing he found amusing was that when Stitch burped you could smell it, but I can't imagine enjoying that! lol!

He also said that many little kids were taken out screaming by their parents because they got scared during the show. It's a problem because kids like Stitch and they have no idea they're going into a scary attraction. Kinda like the Snow White ride.

So if you have small children and they want to go on Stitch, think twice about taking them. Think twice about going yourself. DH says don't waste your time.

i tend to differ, i loved the ride and love stitch! :teeth:

IMHO, Stitch is the worst Disney character ever dreamed up and reflects Eisner's demise of Disney animation over the last few years. It's all about low cost and cross marketing now. At least Pixar does good stuff.

I think Stitch is just fine. Stitch reflects a real life scenario... it doesnt manner what you look like it's what in your heart and knowing what is the right thing to do... that's just how I see Stitch

I wasn't that impressed with Stitch, but thought it was kind of cute for the 5-8 year old group. My DS was 5 in Feb when we went and is scared of everything; Haunted Mansion, Test Track, Splash Mountain, Goofy Barnstormer, anything dark and loud. He LOVED Stitch and made me take him on it twice.

Yup. It sucks. It's the least "disney-like" attraction in the 47,000 acres of WDW. :(

NO one in my party liked it. It was NOT a good representation of Stitich.....nor anything else. Another example of the accountants holding the reins in on the creative talent (tot he tune of 10 MILLION dollars) :(

Stitch was by far the longest line we stood in last week (45 minutes). As a lover of AE, I was looking forward to giving Stitch a chance, however I thought it stunk... literally. It was raining that day, and my poncho smelled like "Stitch" the rest of the day, yuck!

For such a long wait I was dispointed with the lack of hijinx. I say skip it if there's a long line, jmo.

My 3 year old dd and I did the Stitch ride in January. No, I didn't find it to be a great ride but since we didn't have to stand in line to get in (we did it on emh night) we enjoyed it. DD wasn't scared at all and still talks about how Stitch burped and the bad smell. She does however have a thing for burping now

I wish we hadn't gone on Stitch. My 3 yr old is a pretty tough kid, handles roller coasters and dark etc. But she screamed through the entire thing, sobbing (and we couldn't get out). She refused to go on any other rides unless I swore it would be better than Stitch (she had no problem with the Haunted Mansion). She's still telling everyone that it was icky and yucky and too scary for her.

Just our 2 cents, I won't take her on that ride again!

I still don't get what's scary about it. Are the kids afraid Stitch is going to hurt them?
