Every night my DD has a routine before she goes to sleep. In addition to jumping out of bed at least 3 times for water, she has her Disney questions. She will say We go on Stitch and he stinks like hot dogs? Then she says we're gonna go on Buzz Lightyear- makes shooting noise. So is there a height req for Stitch and is it too intense for an almost 3 year old?

I have been on Stitch 3 times, and every time there were at least 2 screaming, terrified toddlers. In my opinion, the ride stinks. It is dark, noisy, and uncomfortable. You are "locked" into your seat with shoulder harnesses. The surround sound effect has all these weird and loud noises zooming all around you in sometimes total darkness. It is not clear what is even supposed to be happening. The showing is too scary for younger kids, and too boring for anyone else.

If your child is okay with the dark and loud noises, she might be okay. They CM's will take you out if they see you are having a problem. However, twice, I sat right next to a mother with a frightened child. The CM never noticed them or me trying to get their attention to let the mother out of her seat so she could leave with child.

I was soooo disappointed in Stitch. I wish I would not have wasted my time. I wish I would have gone on Buzz Lightyear 10 more times.

Stitch is just a show, not a ride.

My 3 and 5 yr olds. screamed and cried during the Stitch ride. We had to leave the ride early. Which was hard because it was very dark. We made the mistake of doing Stich first and my daughter would not try another ride for the rest of the day.

I've seen tweens scream and become upset. No way would I have taken mine on at that age, and they are fearless. You can usually meet Stitch outside the ride, I would encourage that. Now Buzz I think she'll love.

height restrictions Stitch's Great Escape (40”/ 102cm)

My girls (5 & 9) and I hated Stitch. It was a major disappointment. It is totally dark, Stitch creeps around and causes panic in the audience, the shoulder harnesses come down unexpectedly - so you better be sitting up tall & straight - all thru the "show" mine kept pushing me down so by the time the "show" was over I was so slouched and uncomfortable...... It is a lame "attraction" and I wouldn't bother with it again.

My younger daughter - 4 at the time, was very nervous during the whole thing. It was not enjoyable or entertaining. When I see people outside in the mob waiting to go in, I actually feel bad for them! :earboy2: Stitch is AWFUL. Don't put yourself and your kids through it.

Just my opinion, but I am sticking to it.

I will never waste my time on this "ride" again! This was not a ride! This was a waste of time. Disney should and could have done better! :earsgirl: ::MinnieMo :earboy2:

My kids are fear less and like it at 7 and 9...but when we go I see so many little ones that don't understand that it is not real. I would not take one that young. Even if they are tall enough the part of the seat that comes down is uncomfortable on my 7 year old and she is almost 50".

No matter what...this is one I would strongly suggest you trying first. This is offered from a parent that made the HUGE error of taking my young children in when it was alien- that was a nightmare!!!

So you know....my children ride every ride they can- the only ones that ever scared them were Alien, Honey I shrunk the kids and Its tough to be a bug. They like them now but when they were younger....no way!

I just did SGE this past weekend, and while my opinion is not as... scathing... as others who have posted here (I've posted my own review in the "Stitch -- Is this the worst" thread) I will definitely say that I would not recommend this attraction for any child less than 7 or 8 years old.

SGE is a lot more 'kid-friendly' than its predecessor (Alien Encounter), which got a lot of bad reviews itself for being too scary/intense for a Disney park... but there are still periods of complete darkness, and loud noises that can easily frighten young children.

Oh btw -- if you're easily nauseated or simply hate foul smells, you might want to avoid SGE based on the 'chili dog' gag (literally). The smell was the one thing I really REALLY didn't like about that ride -- er, uhm, "attraction." :teeth:

I went on this when it was new (as Alien Encounter) and can not imagine taking my children in there...no matter how they try to soften the theme. As a grown adult the Alien Encounter gave me the willies and I'm not a light weight about rides.

I want on the ride and liked it, but I do not think it is good for children under 5. The last time we rode it we had a 3 year next to us that screamed the whole time, and was trying to get out of the seat. It runined for everyone else. The parents did not even seem to care. All the light go out and you are in compete darkness.

I'm glad to hear I wasn't the only one. :teeth:

Honestly though, when it was AE I probably wouldn't have taken anyone under 12 to see it... and I think that eliminating the impression that your life was actually in danger helped make it a lot more 'kid-friendly.'

Funny thing though... It seems that both as AE and SGE (don't know much about the incarnation before AE), that attraction has had a very polarizing effect on people. Folks generally either hate it or love it, with very few (like me) anywhere in between.

I wonder if when years from now we'll see history repeat itself, with some people complaining that WDW shouldn't have replaced SGE with whatever new attraction they wind up putting in there.

Stitch is terrible - I don't think it's scary for anyone who fits the height limit of 40". It's just boring and a waste of 30 mins I could be doing something interesting...the only reason i'd ever go on again is to see my buddy Skippy! :)

Would you consider it scary for a 3-year-old? My son isn't even 3 yet, and he's almost 39" tall. It's a pretty safe bet that he'll reach 40" pretty soon.

I wouldn't advise relying on physical height too much when determining if your child should ride stuff.

I wouldn't take a just-3-year-old on Stitch. First, it's not the Stitch he knows and loves. Second, it is dark and frightening for many little ones, and there is a bar holding him so he can't move when things start touching his head in the dark. Also, there is a bar holding you in, so you can't do anything buy maybe hold his hand.

Also, STITCH is the worst ride in the Magic Kingdom. An absolute, complete waste of timel. My humble advice: Do not take time out of your life to bother with it.

I liked Stitch so did my family!!

I liked it BETTER than BUZZ (GASP) I know crazy but I hate shooting guns(or lazer beams) at things...my score was worse than my 5 yo!!! Stich is kinda scary though, depending on the kind of kid you have, mine is a scaredy cat and we switched off a lot but she did not find this scary...she thought it was funny...it is dark and sometimes loud but my dd is mostly scared of fast and high...it all depends

Sounds like the same situation (maybe worse) that Ive encountered every time Ive been to ITTBAB in the Tree of Life at AK. The luckier shorties had their moms asking at the exit if they think it would be okay for a young child. There was always at least 1 unlucky, unhappy little camper being traumatized by the show in the theater while I was in it :guilty:
