Went one night during the Passholder weekend and was extremely disappointed. Found way too many similarities between Stitch and Alien. The main part was almost identical, but very much on the lame side. The burping of a chili dog in your face was gross. Found everyone who was in there left with the same disappointed reaction. This attraction needs ALOT of work.

Although I do agree with your opinion, I think you should add "SPOILER" to your title or edit out the burp, IMHO.

I will probably share your opinion - we won't get a chance to see it for another 2 weeks or so.

That said, I have a feeling that my nephews (ages 8 & 4) will enjoy it - especially the burp, LOL! I will never quite undersatnd little boys' sense of humor, but in my experience, they seem to find most "body functions" very, very funny. :teeth:

Anyway, I don't think we (Moms, Aunties & Grandmas) were Disney's "target market" for this one. ;)

Best wishes -

Couldn't agree more with this, the Stitch ride was awful. There was a long queue for this so we fast-passed and went on the Carousel of Progress in the intervening period (pretty cool). Man, where we glad we didn't queue when we finally went on it. I'm not sure this is one for the kids either, the ones I saw simply looked confused.

For a great in-the-seat experience try Bugs Life at Animal Kingdom or Shrek at MGM. Way, way better.

I too found it VERY disappointing.......you would think since it was closed down for so long that it would have been a huge difference between it and Alien. Disney needs to update their magic, as much as I love Disney and will never abandon it, I can see where kids now days want to go to Universal, It's something that I went on once and wouldn't care if I went again.

Thanks for the heads up. I think we will skip this one when we go in a few weeks:tongue:

I have to concur with the general opinion that this is a "miss" attraction.
The hype and build up to seeing this was better than the attraction itself.
However the preshow is pretty good, but I would certainly like to have Alien Encounter back the way it was.
Also, the marketing for this certainly is with young boys: disney is looking for more money from this demographic and the new Stitch will certainly find loyalty with the 4-11 year old boys.
:o :o :o :o

Oh Carol - it's not just little boys.

Big ones find bodily functions quite drole.

hehehhe.....burp....

LOL, Dan!

I was disappointed in the Stitch attraction. I think it is still too intense for small children. Total darkness and loud, scary noises are part of this attraction.

Basically it is still Alien Encounter except they include a GIANT stitch and they don't toast Skippy anymore.

I guess I'll be different. We were there Friday night of the passholder preview and we went in with VERY low expectations because of the reviews I'd read so far. If you look at it from the point of view of the target audience (5-14 or so I would surmise) it is fun and cute. NONE of the children we saw in there were scared in the least.

Now, to break it down section by section, we thought the pre-show was AWFUL! Boring, too long, seemed like it was only there to distract you from the wait, pointless, etc.

But once inside it was okay (again in a juvenile, smelly sort of way) Stitch is a cute character they are trying to capitalize on and kids adore him.

They did ask us our opinions on the attraction and we told them we thought they should pipe in air freshener between seatings because when we got in there you could already smell the stench therefore you could already guess what would happen.

I don't think this is one we would wait in line for but if a fast pass is available making it a quick trip, we would go on it (once our children are old enough).

I guess the fact that we aren't willing to wait in line for it does speak some to its lasting ability though. It did kind of have the feel of a once is enough attraction, not something I think they were hoping for. But that is an adult point of view because most of the kids we saw were begging to go again.

I told my 7-year-old daughter about it and she wants nothing to do with the Stitch ride.

Told my kids (DD is 8, DS is 10) about the chili dog burp and they cannot wait. Of course this is my two gross kids who only remember one thing about when their great aunt took them to the ballet: the way the male dancers rear end cheeks looked in the tights! DH is just as bad and suggested we all eat chili dogs before the show to burp too. I give up!

I went on Stitch last week, and honestly I hardly remember a thing! After we all sat down and those harness things came on and the show started, the 8 year old girl next to me began SCREAMING!!! She screamed in terror "DADDY!!! DADDY!!! I WANT TO LEAVE!!!!!!!!!!!" She was crying hysterically. Two castmembers came over with flashlights to calm her down, then led her and her family out of the room. :( I understand that children get scared and I am glad they got her off, but since I was next to them, I could not pay any attention to the ride with all that happening.

Oh well. I will try again on my next trip! Kids who hate loud and dark rides should skip this one!

My 6 1/2 year old nephew loves Stitch (and even talks like him sometimes), so I was pretty disappointed with the way they set up this attraction. After viewing, I informed his parents about the ride and they did not care for him to go in it. We just told him that it had not opened yet to everyone and he was fine with that. I just think that if Disney is trying to push this as a friendly attraction than Alien, then it needs alot more work.

Stitch is no different than when Mission Space opened. The ride has been overhyped. You need to decide for yourself what you think rather than listen to the opinions of those that have tried it.

What do you have to lose by trying it for yourself?

I agree. I am going to try it in January with my 8 year old mega Stitch fan. He will love it I'm sure. I think it is nice that there is something finally a little more geared towards boys. As the mom of two boys, and although I am a Princess lover myself, I get irritated by the lack of boy friendly stuff for this age group, espescially all of the character meals. He is way too old for Pooh and Friends and all that really leaves is Chef Mickey's and Donald's Breakfastasaurus, yet there are at least 3 I can think of right off hand (CRT,SPB and 1900 over at GF) that are aimed strictly at the girls crowd. I think he will love Stitch and I am sure I will not like it, but we will try it and see it for ourselves, to each their own.

For a great in-the-seat experience try Bugs Life at Animal Kingdom or Shrek at MGM. Way, way better. [/B]

If you go to MGM asking for the Shrek attraction, you might get quite an 'in the seat' experience. :hyper:

Exactly. So many comparisons to Alien. We went in April for our first time. This is our second time to go in December. So we cannot compare Stitch to Alien or vice versa. We will go with the flow. Some will love it and some will hate it. I am just happy to be at Disney and riding and relaxing.

Stitch was open every day the week of 11/7. I won't bore you with another review but I will say that I really could not even hear most of it because of the SREAMING kid sitting near me. Now, I am not saying you should go crazy with your planning but c'mon people do a little research before taking your kid on a dark ride and if they are going to be scared stay away.

Anyway, even though there were no lines, I didn't bother going back. What I did see and hear was very lame. My 5 and 8 year old girls were bored and not at all scared. I got a "that's it?" at the end of it. Not sure what the big deal is with this attraction except for the fact that it is new? I never saw Alien Encounter so I have nothing to compare it to. Maybe AE was better?

BTW, while I am on the subject my kids even my 5 year old went on everything and was never scared. We had to do Space Mtn over and over and over even though she barely hit the 44" line and she was disappointed she couldn't go on Primeval Whirl and R&RC because of the 48" min. She had no problem with Dinosaur or TOT. On one of the bus rides, we sat next to a six year old girl who was taller than my five year old but wouldn't even go near the Haunted Mansion because it was too scary for her. What are these kids scared of??

Consider yourself lucky, then. My 5 year old DD is afraid of all the attractions you mentioned. She's even afraid of the TOT pre-show, which is a real pain since the CMs don't like to give out child swap FPs once the child is tall enough to ride. They expect them to take the chicken exit next to the ride elevators. Heck, she's even afraid of the Haunted Mansion, Snow White and Journey into Your Imagination in Epcot! Who would be afraid of Figment?!?! My daughter :). We probably won't do Stitch because of the dark and the smelly odor (that's what she says she doesn't like about Figment ... the skunk scene). I guess I'll tell her about the attraction (dark, smelly, etc) and let her decide. She was really looking forward to it, so she may choose to try it. If she does, I'll try to be seated where we can leave easily.
