Stinky Luggage - Help

I just received my new Disney luggage from disneyshopping.com. I love it, but it stinks to high heaven. I had read about that before on the disboards. I leave in less then 3 weeks and I won't be able to handle that smell in my hotel room if it hasn't dissipated by then. Any suggestions? Febreze, outside airing, anything . . . It actually gives me a headache. My DH likes the smell of it

Can you leave it outside to air out? I had that problem with a suitcase too and that helped.

I have heard to put newspaper inside it and that will take the smell. OR those refridgerator baking powder boxes to absorb the odor! Otherwise just leave them OPEN AND IN AN AIRY place. GOOD LUCK!

I had a similar problem w/ DH. He left his smell "man sandals" in our luggage and they stunk them up. So.... I got out my trusty Febreeze ROOM deoderizer (sp?) and sprayed it. Well, that didn't work so.... ( I know this will sound odd) I put some white vinegar in a spray bottle and sprayed the inside and put it outside to dry out. It worked. Then I sprayed the luggage with Febreeze again to make it smell PURTY! It worked!! I now have lavendar smelling luggage, which to me, is better than stinky "man sandals".

Hey. I ordered the red set from Disney Shopping and I know what you mean! They did have an odd odor. I put a few dryer sheets in each and zipped them up. A couple days and they were fresh as a daisy. Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the great tips. I may try them all. And yes, it was the red Disney luggage. What's up with that? Maybe it's the dye.
