Last week, the Democrats' VP nominee released ten years worth of personal tax return information.

Perhaps the campaign's new slogan should read:

Change You Can Believe In (As Long As Someone Else Pays For It)

The Bidens are amazingly stingy with their charitable giving. For comparison purposes, 89% of American households contribute to charity, with an average contribution of $1,620 -- 3.1% of income.

And IRS statistics reveal that the average taxpayer with AGI over $200,000 makes over $20,000 of charitable contributions:

$15,000-$30,000 AGI: $1,916 average charitable deduction
$30,000-$50,000 AGI: $2,158 average charitable deduction
$50,000-$100,000 AGI: $2,703 average charitable deduction
$100,000-$200,000 AGI: $4,057 average charitable deduction
$200,000 or more of AGI: $20,434 average charitable deduction

YIKES!

Maybe the posters should read.......

OBAMA

SCROOGE

Wow, that is kind of sad. That even includes 2001 when people from all walks of life were sending anything they could to the 9/11 victims. ANd the Katrina destruction.

Pathetic, isn't it?

I guess Gasbag Joe hasn't ever heard of leading by example.

This is nothing new. We learned the same thing about Clinton and Gore when they were in office. Wasn't it Gore that took a tax deduction for giving away "some old underwear"?

The democrat party isn't keen on philanthropy. They want government — with our tax dollars — to pay for everything, not private citizens and organizations.

Here's another link, and a quote:

“It is jarring that a couple earning over $200,000 per year (the Bidens) would give as little as $2 per week to charity. This giving compares very unfavorably to John McCain, whose tax returns show that he gave 27.3% - 28.6% of his income to charity in 2006-2007. During the same period, the Obamas’ tax returns show that they gave 5.8% - 6.1% of their income to charity.”

Interesting, no? Coming on the heels of that 9/11 "Service Forum" Obama and McCain participated in.

I believe that poor and middle class people give more to charity than rich people do.

Back in the 1980's, before my transformation from Democrat to Republican, I was shocked that Ronald Regan gave less to charity each year than my husband and I did. Just goes to show you it crosses party lines.

1"Be careful not to do your 'acts of righteousness' before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
2"So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. 3But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
-Matt 6:1-4

Just saying, I know numerous Christians who do not claim charitable donations on their taxes because of these verses. Some people just chose to give completely in private, so that it is truly giving without any expectation of reward. Some won't even put it in the bowl at church, because then people could see them and think more highly of them for giving.

Personally I keep it private in my daily life but do claim it on my taxes. But my former pastor and a number of my Profs and fellow students don't. At my school (a Christian University) this quickly becomes one of those "hot button" topics. So I won't judge anyones tax returns without knowing the whole story.

Okay, I get it now, Joe Biden is just being modest.

Joe Biden. Modest. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Joe Biden is Catholic. The Catholic Church uses envelopes to record contributions to the Church and other charities the Church is collecting for. They do not tell their congregation to not take the tax write-off.

Your argument holds no water for Biden.

So do the churches of the PASTORS I know who refuse to take the tax deduction. Churches are required by law to track it and provide the tax reciept. I have NEVER heard that instruction in any church I have been to. It is a simply personal conviction for everyone who practices it. So I'm sorry but your argument holds no water.

You are not Catholic and I am. I know what Catholics do and believe more than you do.

Well most of my extended family and dh's is Catholic. I know that my Catholic Grandma does not take a tax deduction for tithing the money she gets at all the Catholic funerals (about 30 a year) she sings at for her church. She insist people do not pay her and then tithes it if they choose to anyways, she takes no deduction on that. I did not know that until my sister and I helped her do her taxes because she KEPT IT PRIVATE.

Don't presume to know the personal faith convictions of anyone just because they sit by you in a pew at church.

I'd eat my left shoe if it turned out that Joe Biden is really donating thousands of dollars to whatever charity, but is keeping it a secret.

:lmao:

Cheney was the same way in the 10 years prior to him becoming VP -- only donating 1% of his income over a ten year span from 1989 - 1999. I recall people back then saying it was a private matter. Funny how the tables turn when it's the "other" candidate.

Biden did take a deduction just a lame one.

I would have told them to write a check to the Church and taken nothing.

Well I didn't say it was likely. Just that I won't judge. ;)
