We all heard that the repo cruise was to have the first experience, but I haven't seen any reports.
Does anyone have any info about this?

a baby bump up as I'm interested in it too.

Thanks!
Kendra

I can't wait for the first report..if your lurking out there and had a chance to experience this at CC please give us the scoop.

I was able to walk over the the stingray area on our day at Castaway Cay. It was fun to see the Stingrays. They are definately trained and used to people...they came up toward the shore when I approached.

If you've never experienced swimming with sting rays before (and even if you have) it looks like it will be fun....but having been to the Stingray City Sandbar in Grand Caymen, it doesn't compare. At Castaway Cay, it appears that you will be in a pen with the stingrays right at the shore. I guess I think that being in waist deep water out in the ocean added to the experience in Grand Caymen. Plus, so far, Castaway Cay has 40 stingrays and they all appeared to be rather small (compared to the BIG stingrays at Grand Caymen). On the other hand, being close to shore will make it easier to capture the moment on film/video and it might not be as scary for young children.

I'm sure the excursion will be very enjoyable and we'll probably do it on a future cruise...I just thought I'd prepare anyone that might be expecting something similar to Stingray City.

A couple years ago on a cruise to Belize we did a stingray/shark adventure and it was fantastic. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I am not sure if being with them in a pen will have the same effect. Again like you said it will probably be wonderful for those that have never done it but for us that have out in the ocean I am sure it does not compare. :earseek:

"The Castaway Ray's stingray adventure was so great!! We did have to switch the time because it was lightening and raining, but we were able to do it. First we fed the stingrays on a platform that Tom McAlpin referred to as the closest thing Disney will get to a Blackjack table We had our pictures taken with them too. Then we we able to snorkel with them for about 1/2 hour. This excursion will cost $29/$35 for children/adults when they start it officially on September 20. We really enjoyed being able to do this."

I hope this answers your questions.

Thanks for the info, I am looking forward to doing this next year :fish:

It sounds great! ! ! I can't wait to book it!

Thanks for the info. Even though it doesn't sound like it compares to Stingray City in Grand Cayman, it should be fun. Last October we planned to go to Stingray City and then had to go to Costa Maya instead because of the hurricanes, so at least this will give us a taste.

Thanks Nordkin! I have never done a stingray swim before so I can't compare it. While we were standing in about thigh-high water, the stingrays came up to be fed on the platform. Other stingrays continued to swim around our legs. I also enjoyed being able to snorkel with the rays.

I have gone into my crusie plans to try and book this for my Oct 29th Cruise and it isn't showing up at all.

Any idea how we go about booking it??

We were part of the lucky group that got to swim with the stingrays this past Friday at Castaway Cay. It was awesome!! We have done the swim in Grand Cayman and I honestly like Castaway a whole lot better. The stingrays at Castaway had their barb (not sure I'm saying that correctly!) clipped so no chance on getting stung. They do still have their poisonous sack so you must do the 'stingray shuffle' to avoid stepping on them. We loved the educational overview prior to getting in the water along with talking to the wonderful folks that care for the stingrays.

Hi Pat  It was fun being in a group with you and Daniel for the Stingray swim. Hopefully we'll see you again on another cruise!

Hi Tracy!!!! It was so much fun seeing you and Bill on the repo cruise and then on the stingray excursion!!!! Hope to see you both on another cruise real soon!! Pat

This excursion will cost $29/$35 for children/adults when they start it officially on September 20. Don't know the ages.

Does anyone know if there is an age limitation. DD4 desperately wants to snorkel but she is too young for any of the excursions. She swims like a fish so she just doesn't understand why she can't go.

At the end of the family beach, before the teens beach.

Does anyone know if Disney has started taking reservations? We will be at Castaway on Friday the 23rd of September.
