Can anyone tell me about the Stingray City & Blue Lagoon excursion in Nassau? We are taking our two daughters (8 and 10 years old). Is it worth the cost and the time away from the ship? We are going on a 3 day cruise in August. We are also considering the glass bottom boat tour so I'd appreciate feedback on that as well. Thanks! :sunny:

I don't know about the Dolphin thing in Nassau as we did the one in Freeport when we went on the 4 day and they stopped there but I can tell you that the Glass Bottom Boat tour in Nassau to US wasn't worth the small price of admission. There are others who will disagree with me but our experience was a waste of time and energy. I'll tell you about our experience with it....

First off to be fair me and dh are avid divers so to us the fish on a glass bottom boat tour are not that exciting....that said....

We had my inlaws and our 3 kids aged 8,7 and 3 along with dh and I. We had an afternoon tour scheduled since hubby and I had gone diving in the morning. We walked off the ship and were greeted by a tour operator for the glass bottom boat. We walked all the way down the pier to the end where we boarded a big 2 story boat.

We got underway and rode about 5 min out of the port area to a place where they then instructed all of us to go down to the basement of the boat. The stairs were steep, wet and dd and I actually slipped going down them and I whacked my tailbone pretty good.

Once downstairs it was freezing (we did this in November which could explain that) and they proceeded to open the "windows" in which to view the fish. There were quite a few fish although most of them were the same it was ok. They were "trolling" along with someone on the deck above throwing big hunks of bread so that the fish would school for it. We were going fast enough to realize we were going but not fast enough to keep the boat from rocking side to side which eventually made me, dd and mil seasick and we had to go upstairs. We've done a glass bottom boat tour on a different line in Grand Cayman (before becoming certified divers) and they had a guide that stood down there and told us about the fish, what kind and all that stuff but this we just were left alone to watch.

After about 20 min they pulled us all back upstairs saying that the weather was turning ugly and they needed to go back (even though it was sunny and not a cloud in sight) and so we went back to the dock and off we went. The whole experience took 35 min from start to finish and none of us were really that impressed.

Maybe they have started using someone else to do the glass bottom boat tour in Nassau but our experience was a HUGE letdown to us and especially our kids who wanted to see what mom and dad see when we dive.

Others have posted they loved it but to us it wasn't worth the effort or time.
