Stingray City-Captain Bryan's

I have seen a lot of great reviews for Stingray city with Captain Marvins and I was wondering if anyone has done this excursion with Captain Bryans? We have a morning trip booked w/ Cap.Bryan in July and sure hope this is a good choice.

I haven't used them yet either, but decided to go with them in August based on many positive posts over at the cruisecritic.com boards. You may want to look over there if no one else here responds.

I took a 1/2 day tour with Capt.Bryan on Feb. 20. I had a great time. We too went to snorkel first because the sandbar was very crowded. We watched other boats filled with people just plow right in almost hitting the people in the water. We had Aster as the capt. of our boat that day and he was concerned about the safety of us and our children, so we dropped anchor a little farther out and were just fine.
I found Capt. Bryan to be a man of few words but very nice. I would use them again.

We used Captain Bryan's week of April 12th and were very pleased. Aster (sp?) was on the boat also, so stick close. He has the food for the fish while snorkeling and for the stingrays. He is great, will hold the stingrays so the little kids can hold them, and not let the adults hog the action! It was also crowded on the stingray sandbar, and we went snorkeling first. Both "captains", (don't remember other one's name), were helpful, patient with "nervous" kids and adults, and very careful to watch over everyone. Only part they could improve is the check in at their office in GC; of course, we were in overdrive to get out there with the stingrays, and they were so laid back about collecting the balance due from your deposit. Short money for the deposit, but bring your e-mail confirmation - makes it easier and quicker for everyone. And bring the water camera, or you'll regret missing those great photos of the fish, (Moray?) Eels and stingrays. Anyone hesitant about the stingrays, don't be. Gentle creatures, sort of like ocean angels.

LOL, yes the people are very laid back on most of the islands. It's us crazy Americans that are always in a rush

Where can I get more info about this excursion, cost, details, etc? Does the boat get rocky so as to make people seasick? My DH likes snorkeling, Scuba but doesn't like being in a small boat. Any experiences w/ this?

I get seasick and was worried about it too. I wore those seabands on my wrists and I was fine. The water was pretty calm.

I booked Captain Bryan's thru Grandcaymanexcursions.com, andd you can see the type of boat, cost per person, etc. on the website. If I trust my judgement on boat sizes, I'd guess it was a 50 foot catamaran type boat, nice ride, but I do not get seasick even in the Perfect Storm! There is a small bathroom below deck, and the forward deck has the "net" type front where you can sit and get wet, then there is bench seats mid by the sail, and under cover out of the sun aft. I thought it was a smooth ride; but you never know what the seas will be like. They would not take you out if it was dangerous - and will reimburse your deposit (short money) if the ship cannot dock. Hope this helps.

We have two boats ant they are the (1)Hannibal which is a beautiful 50 ft sailing trimaran, 27 ft wide with two trampolines, large sun deck, shaded back deck, and bathroom facility (2) Sweet Alison is a 40 ft snorkel boat with large shaded badk deck, swim platform, large fly bridge, ladder for snorkelers and bathroom facility.. transportation, snorkel gear, ice and an ice chest are provided with all snorkel trips
