Stimulus Payment Schedule for Tax Returns

Thank you for posting this!

Does direct deposit count even if you used a program such as Turbo Tax to file your taxes?:confused3

yes it does...

Does anyone know if you filled with H & R Block and got your refund on their debit card if you would get it on that also? I am thinking No and it would be a paper mailing but my sister is trying to find that out.

So if mine says on or before May 9th does that mean it will be deposited on the 9th since it's a Friday? They usually do deposits on Fridays.

Hmmm, so it's not as cut and dry as so much per child and so much for married couples...etc. I just did the calculator and it said 2100, vs the 2700 we'd figured based on the initial numbers. Guess there is a lot of variance in there.

Darn it - both Dh and I have SS#'s that end in the 9's.

If all goes according to plan though it will be direct deposited 2 days before we leave for Disney. That would be wonderful !

Thanks sooooo much for that info! Ours is getting deposited on the 9th and we leave for WDW on the 10th!!!!! I could kiss you!!!

it's just an advance on our 2008 return? So all it will do is increase the amount we have to pay next year (or reduce a return for those who get money back)?

What happened to the $1200 for married, filed jointly? Now its $600 - $1200?!! This is NOT good news for DH and I! We were really counting on for $1200, not $600! If that calculator is right and we only get $600 back, Im gonna have to cancel some of our ADRs. I really dont want to have to that, but if it comes down to it, I will have to. Cant change our dates because I already bought our airline tickets, and dont feel like having to cancel and lose $$ on them AGAIN. I really hope we get some extra pixiedust: cuz we need it!

Straight from the IRS website:

Is my stimulus payment taxable?

A. No. You will not owe tax on your payment when you file your 2008 federal income tax return. But you should keep a copy of the IRS letter you receive later this year listing the amount of your payment. In the event you do not qualify for the full amount this year but you do next year, you will need to have the letter as a record of the amount you previously received.

Q. Will the payment I receive in 2008 reduce my 2008 refund or increase the amount I owe for 2008?

A. No, the stimulus payment will not reduce your refund or increase the amount you owe when you file your 2008 return.

I'm pretty annoyed with this too. It seems as though they aren't paying on married couples as double - does that make sense? So if DH and I filed separately we'd each get the 600 instead of being shafted. I hope it's just the calculator having a glitch.
:headache:

Does anyone know whether if you owe state taxes they will take this to pay those? I am getting a small refund for federal, but have to pay $500 in state taxes:confused3 (Gotta love NC). I'd rather pay the taxes I owe later in the year when they bill me. This money would be going to Disney!

maybe I confused but I thought it was $1200 for married couples filing jointly??. my turbo tax told me at the end we were getting $1800 for our family of 4 :confused3

It will automatically go to paper check.

I just used the calculator and we're married filed jointly one child and it says we're getting $1500 back, what I expected. Are some people not getting paid for spouses?

My married filing joint was exactly $2100 with our three kids..just what I was expecting, as well.

Well I used the calculator and DH and I, married filed jointly, are getting the $1200 back (and I had no income last year as I was a full-time student). I guess it just depends on what your taxable income was and how much you paid in taxes.

Correct - the maximum income threshold for receiving ALL of your rebate check (for married couples filing jointly) is 150,000. After 150,000 adjusted gross income it will start to go down in terms of total rebate received eventually capping out to nothing after 175,000 (and this means if you make jointly 175,000 and have 10 kids you get nothing).

I didnt hink we were getting anything, but just tried the calculator on a whim.

We get $537, sweet.

Better than nothing.
