Still very sad about the hostages in Russia

They are just now reporting some explosions and smoke in the area of the school. I feel so sorry for those poor children (and adults) inside the school...plus the parents waiting outside...not knowing what is happening with their babies!

its sad, and scary because you know they want to do that to us also

Sadly people who would hurt children are really capable of anything. Also it seems like they always want to do more and more violent things to continue to capture more and more attention. Well this (along with the plane and train incidents, but more so the school with children) got the world's attention. They are sick and hopefully will be killed. Now that this has happened anything can happen anywhere in the world. Anything.

Where do you see info about the smoke? I just turned on the TV and none of the stations are reporting on it. They only have info about the Republican Convention on. The news stinks here in the US.

The evil people say that for every hostage taker killed they will kill 50 children. For every one injured they'll kill 20.

:( Those poor children. I can't even imagine what they and their families are going through. I hope this ends without any more bloodshed.

This is just an ugly, ugly situation in Russia. I don't understand why there isn't more coverage about this story. I heard the updates on the news this morning, but that's it. I've been praying for everyone. It's a horrible, horrible situation.

I agree with the coverage. Enough already with the coverage of the convention. Bush is running. DUH. We know his platform. I'm sick of it already. We never seem to get good global news in the states. The media is too focused on us, us, us. There's a whole world out there. Just look at the coverage of this unbelievable crisis in Russia and the events leading up to it and compare it to Kobe Bryant. Unreal.

I am terribly sad about the whole situation. I wish we could get more info. from the tv.

Our youngest two were adopted from Russia, so we watch for the news on the country. Our kids aren't from that area, but it is still a sad situation.

The families are in our prayers.

It's absolutely sickening. What evil people there are in the world. They don't have any respect for life and will kill anyone, including themsevles, for their 'cause'.

My DH said that they should find out who the evil pigs are, round up their families and have them join the pigs in the school. Maybe then they might not blow up the school?? But I doubt that would even sway them.

What a world, what a world.:sad1: :worried:

God bless those poor hostages and I pray for a safe and quick release of ALL of them.

I'm SO frustrated with our press.

We get all bent out of shape when something happens to us and expect the rest of the world to support our cause, give us aid, and make it headline news there...

But then something like this happens to them, and we barely give it a 10 sec blurb on the national news.

Last night, I had to do a SEARCH on cnn.com just to find an update on things!!!

Ticked me off.

my prayers are with those families.

You know that is a great idea about sending in their families although I would hope they don't agree with the evil people's cause. However they may be less inclined to kill everyone if their family was in there.

You know, I have to disagree with you on this one. I don't think Americans expect the rest of the world to give us aid when we have a catastrophe. We give aid to the rest of the world, in huge amounts, but we do not expect it when something happens to us because America is a large country and we know that a hurricane on the east coast means lots of funds coming from the midwest and west coast (depending on the severity of the disaster) and an earthquake on the west coast means lots of funds coming from the east and midwest etc.

And when something like this happens to the rest of the world we ask if we can send rescue workers, mediators, and depending on the situation, many times we send lots and lots of money. I don't care what the media does, America does respond and help the rest of the world when they need our help. We are good and generous people and we have shown over and over again that we care about the rest of the world and the tragedies that befall them.

Even though this horrible situation is far from over, the news is reporting that as many as 31 women and children have been released. I pray that the rest are released soon. Can you imagine how frightened those children are?

I agree with everyone who said we aren't getting enough information on this. The convention and Kobe Bryant aren't nearly as important as the safety of those hostages.:(

I think it is the babies that were released and some elderly woman. They probably knew they wouldn't do well in captivity. The babies were there because in Russia they really celebrate the first day of school and lots of parents brought babies in with them to the school that day.

I really wasn't thinking AID as in monetary, but thinking more of 9/11 type things... not hurricanes. I remember shortly after 9/11, there were people that were upset that other countries werent so disgusted by it and running to join our fight... often, people lose sight of the fact that other countries live with that terror each and every day.

And I am speaking of the media, not Americans as a whole, of course. I know that *I* am not like that, so I can't stereotype everyone. I can't remember what I said now... but I thought i said that. Obviously, WE care because we're all looking for information on it! LOL
