Hi All,
We have changed plans several times now, from this Fall to next Spring, to now possibly summer or Fall of 2019. Please help me figure out the best time to visit next year (no plans to visit SWGE if open). Any of these dates would work for us work and school wise, but I am wondering about prices/crowds:

- First week of January
- Memorial day week
- Labor day week
- Around Columbus day (Thu before to day after)
- Sat-Wed before Thanksgiving
- Week before Christmas

Any and all advice appreciated. TIA!

Weather, on the other hand, is definitely on the negative side of the ledger for that time frame.

Weather is a concern for sure. I guess the choices really come down to iffy weather/lower crowds vs nice weather/more crowded.

If you want to avoid SWGE and the crowds it will bring, them that kinda rules out Thanksgiving and Christmas.

If we go after SWGE opens, we just won't visit DHS. I'm hoping it won't translate into other parks being more crowded as well.

Are the crowds really that bad the first week of January?

I'm pretty sure all the parks will be busier than normal as the people who plan a 6 day trip to go to SWGE aren't spending every day at HS. I know of people holding off on trips to wait for it, I'm sure there are many others. The locals with AP wont be able to get FP at HS for those attractions so they will probably have to go to the other parks.

Of those dates, I'd pick Labor Day week. Sure, it's hot and humid, but it's not intolerable if you can plan for it and the crowds make up for it. I'd go that week again in a heartbeat -- only downside I see is that it's hurricane season, which has been an issue recently.

I wouldn't choose Labor Day just because of the heat and humidity. My daughter just can't handle it! Is there a reason that each week you are choosing is surrounding a holiday? Any time there is a holiday it is going to be busier. Have you looked at any of the crowd calendars available to see how they compare?

I'm not sure any of those dates are ideal.

I would price the trip out and see what is cheapest and where you can go for the most amount of days and pick that way.

Thanks. Unfortunately we are limited by my son's and husband's (graduate program) school schedules. I am okay with my son missing a few days of school, but would not want to risk my husband having an assignment or midterm due during our trip.

I don’t think there are any low crowd times anymore, unfortunately. So pick the time that works best for your family, adjust your expectations, and have a blast!

I can offer some personal insight based on my family’s experiences... I’d probably put Christmas and New Year’s as my last choice due to heaviest crowds. Labor Day may be best for crowds, but extremely hot, humid and rainy. I did not enjoy that time of year in Florida. I absolutely love visiting in the Fall because weather is gorgeous...which makes crowds more tolerable... so October would probably be my preference.

Happy planning!

Friends of our went the beginning of January this year thinking it would be less crowded a week after New Years and she couldn't believe how crowded it was. We have gone over Labor Day weekend and it is definitely not as crowded - but it is hot. We love February - but I understand about school schedules. You have to choose which is more important - crowds or heat.

We have gone memorial day week, June, August, labor day week and the middle of December. If I had to pick the best of those trips I would say memorial day week. It was average crowds and the weather was not as hot as the other summer months we went. We did like the middle of December but it was a bit more crowded and the weather was freezing when we went. The weather is so unpredictable in December. September labor day week was average crowds and super humid and hot, same for August but more crowded.
