Still torn between Poly & AKL-WHY???? :)

FairyDust2008,

After reading all your recent posts, I have come to the following conclusion: If the AKL Club Level IPO would contact you and get your ADRs and reserve the Sunrise Safari, you would stick with the AKL.

Well, I have to admit that I'm partially not overly impressed with the concierge level of service of paying more and expecting more and having to do all the initiating. I'm sure others in my shoes would be just as irritated by not hearing back. If you would have done your research on my posts, liking the Poly hasn't been a new thing. I researched mods like POR/POFQ and CSR and thought of booking the CSR but after finding out about the upcoming pool refurbishing and a few other things, I eliminated the mod choices. I only have booked the AKL so this is my 1st reservation. I'm not booking and cancelling reservations one after another. It isn't like I'm the first poster who has changed their mind about a resort choice:snooty: I've always liked Poly too and I was thinking about the monorail versus bus, being closer to other activities, etc. Nobody completely makes reservations perfectly on dot, unless well............they are perfect and I am not;)

I have read just about all your posts. I'm was not saying anything about you changing your mind. It is your perogative. By reading your posts, it seemed to me that if the AKL IPO had answered you back promptly, like they should have, you probably would not have questioned your decision to stay there. I didn't mean to sound as if I was criticizing you for changing your mind. I'm sorry that you took it that way. Whatever decision you make, I hope you have a great WDW vacation. :goodvibes

I, too, am torn between the two resorts. I have stayed in both and I love them equally.

But this month we ended up choosing POR as both were booked :guilty:

POR is a great resort too. If you go to Boatwrights, see if they still have the Sweet Potato Pancakes.:thumbsup2

A vote for the Poly here. The rooms are huge and it's monorail resort. The convience alone is a huge factor for us. We love the theming, resturants, pool and area. Both are wonderful resorts. But if your going to be spending a large amount of time at MK or Epcot I'd vote Poly.

It is all good:goodvibes You are right. I was a little ticked that they didn't get back and I've had to do all the initiating so far. I let it slide with the e-mail and I had to e-mail them twice before I got a response and then when I called them, I left a message and nobody has yet to call back a week later. Just seems if I'm having this much difficulty making contact, it makes me wonder what service will be like when I actually get there. Kinda irritates me. I didn't mean to sound the way I did in my post back to you:flower3: Sorry :) Thanks for your help and others too with my questions, etc. Thanks for the good wishes for a great vacation too:goodvibes

The lounge staff are not the same people working in the IPO. But I was just thinking that one of your origional choices was Poly. Maybe you chose AKL becasue you were getting more for your money. I would hate to see you whistfully looking at the Poly every time you passed it wishing you had stayed there. AKL CL is great but I can understand your uneasy feeling having so much trouble contacting them. I imagine someone must be sick or on vacation because it is not typical if that makes you feel any better.:grouphug:

Haven't read all the posts, but I've done both....

POLY hands down! AKL was nice to visit but the kids always CHEER to go back to the POLY, the volcano pool, and monorail....it's just better for families in my opinion.

You started this exact thread a few weeks ago....If Akl And Poly Were Your 2 Choices-which One Would Win Out And WhyI remember responding to it...You got 25 responses..if you are still undecided with your reservation at the AKL, club level then switch..you have had it booked for awhile..

It hasn't been booked that long and I've only made this one AKL reservation so it isn't like I'm booking and cancelling right and left. I just was having some reservations.

I just wanted to tell you I was in no way being confrontational..I have been in your shoes before! Hopefully I can help, I stayed at the Poly and really loved the ammenities, location and room size... The biggest deal for me was location! You have easy access to GF, MK, CR, and Epcot via the monorail. You can also take the monorail over to the CR and hop on a boat to go to WL and FW. These options are great for ADR's. I have read a lot of your posts and you do have small kids and strollers! My kiddies are 9, 7 and 6 and I would never stay off the monorail, in my opinion. I can afford concierge level but I choose not to do it with my kids...we spend a lot of time in the parks, at the pool and eating at our ADR's...I feel I would never use the lounge...I am staying in a MK view at The CR and I want to sit on my balcony not in a lounge. I think you like the "concierge" thing so either do a split stay or write a list of the pro's and con's of both and choose..don't look back..just get excited about the resort that was victorious...;)

honestly, your resort options are probably the only two i love equally, but for different reasons.

but for a first stay, i would absolutely, without any hesitation whatsoever, select the poly. first visits involve a lot of park time, & the poly transportation will make your vacation much more enjoyable.

save AKL for a future visit, when the kids are a bit older, & you can spend more time relaxing & appreciating the resort rather than trying to get from one park to another. (btw, the poly also has quite a bit to offer for repeat visitors).

in all likelihood, this will not be your last visit to WDW:rolleyes: . there is a variety of resorts not only for differing tastes, but for different needs. simply: of all the deluxes, i think the poly fits your needs this trip :thumbsup2

We loved staying at the Poly. The monorail was awesome and very convenient. The atmosphere was fantastic as were the restaurants. Haven't stayed at AKL yet, but have visited family/friends on 2 separate visits there. Animals were great. I found the resort to be far from the parks and our 2 kids weren't fond of the food at the restaurants there. As a DVC member we don't see ourselves rushing to stay there anytime soon.

I also forgot to add that the poly rooms were much bigger than AKL, if that helps any.

When is your trip anyway?

Just go for the Poly and be done with it lady! :)
If you dont, you will second guess yourself to you step foot at WDW Resort!

Ireceived great advice here when I suffered from your reosrt choosing affliction...:0
Book the resort you can afford (top of your list) and be done with it! Then there is no changing..at least you dont call CRO!! lol
I went from POP, to CSR, to WL, WL Concierge, to WL honeymoon suite, to YC, and then finally to YC Concierge for last years trip in AUg/Sept!
Then we bought DVC....nuff said:)
