Okay, so people have posted again and again that you shouldn't buy DVC with the intention of using your points for other places. "Buy DVC to stay at DVC," we've been told. I'm going to confess right here that one of the reasons we bought DVC was because we wanted to travel to as many of the amazing places in the various collections as we could over the next 50 (now 48) years.
And I'll admit it bugs me a little that apparently it was naive of me to believe that we could really do that. I mean, people jump in now and again to tell about their experiences trading out, and that's always great to hear. But I still feel like I've been scolded by the prof for not paying attention in class or reading my materials (or some other better metaphor).
But then, I open the latest issue of Vacation Magic, and there's a two-page spread inviting us to enjoy the wonders of Scotland. At the end, it does say "Vacation reservations are subject to availability, and holiday weeks often aren't available." Well, okay...same as DVC resorts. I just don't know why trading-out can't be a full-fledged, fully embraced part of DVC membership.

I'm editing this to say that I sound whiny-er in this post than I intended...the kids were really wound up tonight.
