Only 30 days out from the usual start of Merry Mixer and still no news? Haven't they usually figured the days/dates out by now in previous years? Hoping we hear any minute now - I may have to fine-tune my plans.

:) Yeah I was checking the DVC website a couple of days ago and still no news...not surprised though.

:confused3 What is the Merry Mixer?

For the past several years they have had a "member's appreciation" event called the Merry Member Mixer held just outside the International gate at Epcot. It's held in a large tent with a special gift (usually a tree ornament or key chain or some such thing like that with the logo on it), and a holiday treat and drinks like cider and coco and lemonade. They also have dancing and games and the holiday dressed characters.

I think they want to delay the announcement of dates and time to make sure that none of us can change our plans and attend.

I had inquired about it last week when I was on the phone with MS and was told that it will be at one of the convention centers this year, not outside the International Gateway entrance. CM said that they should know more in a week or so...that was last week.

Well I thought it was soooo mobbed last year, we couldn't even talk our friends into waiting in the loooooong entrance line (so maybe it wasn't as crowded as it looked once you got in). Maybe having it in one of the convention centers will make it better and give them more space to accomodate the crowd. Now help me . . . what are the options for convention centers? I know CR has one - where else? It wouldn't make sense to have it too far afield - unless they are really trying to cut down on participation. I hope they don't have it on Thurs again as we'll be at MVMCP that night.

Contempory Resort
Swan
Dolphin
Yatch Club
Coronado Springs
Boardwalk Villas
There is also, meeting space on the top floor of some of the EPCOT world showcase pavillions

We have never made it to a Merry Mixer. It's always on the day we depart. This year it's a Thursday, so I'm betting on that day.

The mixer is actually put on by DVD Marketing and Guides are available to sell you additional points. Maybe they decided that it isn't cost effective and they are looking for a excuse of why it is canceled?

Location not available or some other reason beyond their control.

On second thought, if it is canceled, they won't give a reason, they just won't have it.

This year I'm staying Friday to Friday, if they have one, I will be there! Never made one before!:goodvibes

I've been to the mixer every year for the past 6 years.....I have never seen anyone trying to sell DVC points at any time. Sure, there are CMs trying to sell you special pins and such, but addtl points?? Not that I've ever seen.

It is getting more and more crowded every year. It used to be that you could have as much to drink as you wanted and as many cookies/treats as you wanted. But not anymore. It's all rationed out...at least at the times I've been there. It's so crowded now that you can hardly move around. But, we still go...it's a nice way to say hi to friends we don't see all the time.

We'll be there from Wednesday to Wednesday, so we should have it covered too. It's usually been on Wednesday or Thursday. Of course, if it's Wednesday this year, we'll have to hustle to get there in time!

We are looking forward to go to the Mixer. I hope it is near Epcot. We made our dinner reservations there with the anticipation that it will be on Thursday.

We went last year for the first time. We did not go to the presentation of the CMs. Part of our group is thinking of purchasing points. So, if they have a real good deal, they may buy right there.

If it is moved to a different location, we may not go. We are a group which will have 2 wheelchairs and an ECV. So, location is important for us.

Next to the table, I think where you turn in your info for the drawing is the Guide table. They don't push themselves on you but they are there. Marketing wouldn't put on a gathering and not take the opportunity to sell contracts. That is there business. :)

We go each year because I collect the ornaments. We do enjoy it. It's a fun event and we take our holiday photo with Mickey and Minnie.

Last year we went on Christmas Eve. Afterwards we hit B&C for a kitchen sink!:wizard:

Spoke with a CM yesterday who, after putting me on hold, stated that the Merry Mixer would be held on December 10, 16 and 23 at the Contemporary Convention Center. This may change between now and December 10 though.
