We are taking our 1st Disney trip during President's Week and I have some great Character Dining ADR's already, however we are arriving late on Wedneday night and I still have monday left to plan. Should I try to do 2 TS on one day ....should I try to wing it on Monday (planning to be in MK).
Help I need advice.

If you want to get into a table service restaurant, your best bet is to call ahead - even if it's from your hotel room. It's very unlikely (however, not impossible) that you'll get a walk-in. If you're in the park and still don't have an ADR, visit the restaurant at the beginning of the day and ask if they have any availability. (Tony's and LTT are more likely than others to take walk-ins, but get there early and prepare to wait.)

I suggest calling Disney Dining and asking what's available for your time of stay. And take what's offered. If you don't end up going, oh well. But you'll probably want to use that ADR.

Have fun at WDW!

For a MK day, I would plan one. You could always go to one of the monorail resorts or take the ferry to WL.

Don't wing it. Are you on the dining plan? If so be sure to call now and book them. Being that it is Presidents week, it will be more busy too. We always eat counter service the day we arrive, which then gives us an extra TS credit left. The first year we did a breakfeast and a dinner TS. But we were full, but it is doable, especially if you go early for breakfeast and do a later dinner. You can then use that extra counter service (since I doubt you'll use it that day as well) for a breakfeast another day. Last year we decided to do hoop dee doo which takes two TS credits. Great decision for us. DD and DH both loved the food and show, so much so DH asked if we can do it again, and we are. We are doing the 9:30 show, which is later than I wanted, but the two before were full. We'll be Ok as that is our only late night. (we did 9:30 last year and the place hardly had anyone in it and it was great.

I agree w/pp...if you wing it, you risk not being able to use the 2 TS at all. I would definatley consider Hoop de do Revue or other 2 ts show, or even a signature restaurant. Have a great trip.

What about the Luau at Polynesian? That's 2 TS credits. I've never been but I hear it is awesome. Hoop de Doo is great too, another 2 TS credit. Where are your current ressies?

I agree with all PP's that you should not wait until you get there to make ressies. When you call I believe the new ressie system makes it possible for them to search a few places at once. Where are you staying? You could also try a character breakfast on a day that you have a later ADR. When I was booking my ADR's the CM told me that Boatwrights had the best breakfasts in Disney so you could always try to have a nice sit-down breakfast there. We were able to get last minute ressies at the Grand Floridian Cafe and what is now Captains Grill at the Yacht Club and both were very good.

Some places that we are going to this trip that may not be too tough to get ressies at still are Boatwrights at POR, Kona Cafe at Polynesian, Maya Grill at Coronado Springs (the CM told me this was his favorite restaurant and sort of a hidden gem because not too many people think of it). I've never been to Kona for dinner or Maya Grill but both come highly recommended by friends and family.

But, if you are going to be in MK that day, I'd start at those restaurants with the CM on the dining line.

I would also try to book them..we loved Ohana in the Poly and Whispering Canyon in the Wilderness Lodge. Have fun!

I was thinking of the Luau too this trip, but was told by other posters that most young kids get antsy at it. (DD is 4) They said to wait till she is at least 6, so just keep that in mind. But there is food, dancing, singing and just alot of fun at the hoop dee doo.

Its probably too late to get into any mk restarants now so i would just wing it.

It is very possible, as above poster mentioned, that the MK restaurants will be unavailable...but, you could always make ressies at one of the Grand Floridian or Polynesian restaurants and take the monorail over, getting a break from the park at the same time.

Besides, even if the MK restaurants are booked, it couldn't hurt to call and find out. Better than losing the TS's altogether.

Definately DON'T wing it. It might not be too late. Last year I booked our trip exactly 2 weeks before we left and got all the ADR's I wanted except CRT. (booked n Feb and went in March) You have several options, and again I would suggest hoopdeedoo. The food was good (I don't usually eat strawberry shortcake and this stuff was so awesome I totally pigged out) and very entertaining, especially for young ones. DD loves salad and ate almost a whole bucket herself. And DH did his best on all the rest. LOL!

Hoop de Doo is a whole lot of fun. We were hoping to go on this trip but it didn't work out...I was able to get an ADR, but just not when we were on the dining plan...and at that point, we didn't want to cancel out other ADR's to squeeze it in. That's a great place to go...but, if you are planning on going on Monday you would have to leave the park for a while because you need to be at Fort Wilderness early enough to get the bus over to the hall. This is definitely a great way to use 2TS's though. The kids would love it.

If you are coming from MK, all you have to do is get on teh boat to FW and it drops you off right by the hoop dee doo. It didn't take much time at all.

Where did you take the bus from? I guess I never heard of that way either. LOL! I was told just go to MK and as you are walking out of MK the boat dock is there and take the FW opne. That is how we got to Whispering Canyon and 1900 Park fare too, only took the boats that went to those resorts.

We have always rented a car there so we drove over to FW but then had to wait for the internal bus to bring us to the hall because you can't park close enough.

Haha, I've been to Disney more times than I can count, yet I still learn something new here everyday on the boards!

Thanks All, We are going to be in WDW late Wednesday Feb.11- Tues Morn. Feb. 17th.

Our ADR's are Crystal Palace(thurs)
Donald's Breakfast at AK(fri)
1900 Park Fare cinderella dinner(sat)
Akershus (storybook princess)(sun)

i have plenty of character meals as you can see, I have a 2 ad 6 six year old to consider. Let me know where you think I should try to get into today. I am going to try to make one just to see if there is a chance.

I would do hoop dee doo and use your two credits up on the day you Donalds breakfast. I can't tell if CP or Akershus is breakfast or not. But since AK closes early, that would be a great day to do Hoop dee doo. You could also try Chef Mickeys for dinner on any breakfast day. Or try for something on Monday. What park will you be at on Monday? And do you have hoppers?
Whispering canyon (at WL) was good and my DD loved it. They do a little horse derby where all the kids get a stick horse and parade around the restuarant. That was a big hit.

Well whispering Canyon is easy to get to from MK, just walk out the front gate and go straight to the boat dock and then get in the line for Wilderness Lodge and take the boat over.
Hoop Dee Doo is that easy as well. Just get on the boat for Fort Wilderness instead.
If you're not interested in the show, then I would try to get Whispering Canyon one night and then on a night that you have a breakfast scheduled, do a dinner somewhere. Is crystal palce for breakfeast? if so you could try liberty tavern for dinner.
