Still glad I upgraded to a pool view room

My daughter told me yesterday about a friend of hers that stayed at the AKL and said that the only complaint they had was that the room was pretty far out.

Glad I upgraded to the pool view area of the resort. I don't think it's a choice I will regret.

Is it an upgrade or a down grade?
I guess it is an upgrade from a Standard view.
But it is a downgrade from a Savanah view

As cool as the Savannah rooms are, you can't beat the location of the pool view rooms! So easy to get to and around the resort from. We've stayed in a Savannah view room and I would always book pool view from now on because of the proximity of the rooms to the central location of the resort. You won't regret your choice at all! Enjoy!

The person who thought the room was pretty far out probably had a savannah view room. I wouldn't trade a savannah view for a pool view. Not all savannah view rooms are far out. You can request to be near lobby if that's a concern.

Yep, we got a SV room that was just outside the elevator door. Not the ones near the check in but the ones just down the hall. They were not a long walk at all.

Doesn't bother me to be "far" from everything. I'd save the money, book a standard view and request one of the people pen rooms looking over sunset savannah.

We have pool view AKL booked in December for precisely the same reasons. The pool area is beautiful to look at, plus you are guaranteed a relatively convenient room location. Looking forward to it soooo much!

I certainly wasn't questioning whether this is the right decision for you or not. Just whether it was an upgrade or not. You can look at a pool at most resorts. But you can only see the Savannah at AKL.

LOVE pool view rooms there! Its what we always get when staying at Jambo house. Once we were offered an upgrade to savannah and we turned it down. We know what we like! The location and view are awesome and the animals we viewed many times when walking around the resort.

im staying there next week and i agree.

i always liked hearing the music, seeing the people, feeling like im a part of the party when staying pool view compared to savannah. i guess i like the hustle and bustle of it all. a lot of the times the animals werent there when i stayed, and honestly after a while it lost the appeal. plus i like the location of the room being close to everything.

Of course you know what is best for your family, and for whatever your reason, you do what works for them.

I know that for us, Savannah View would be my only choice at AKL. I never mind the walk. To be honest, I think that the resorts that are "self-contained" can have a lot more walking than those with external buildings.

Pool View only means your room faces the direction of the pool. There are rooms that are halfway out the bigger horsehoe that face the pool and still a jaunt. Not as bad as all the way at the end but could be quite the long walk to the bus stop anyway.

This was our pool view room. No pool view. To see a tiny bit of the pool we had to lean out our balcony (practically peering in our neighbors balcony) and we could see some blue spots through the big tree. Our view was of the roofs of the restaurants and main path to pool. It was very loud day and night and we ended up never using the balcony. Also loved the days the other guests were using railings to dry their towels and bathing suits. But at least we didn't get those pool view rooms that could virtually walk out on to the roof.

Personally I would never stay in the Pool View again. I would go with Standard which guarantees me close to all or go back to Savanna View which was perfect.

Why? It is, apparently classified as a pool view. Someone has to be assigned it. It is similar to the dumpster view at the YC. It is the Luck of the draw.
