Life can be so funny sometimes.
Those little surprises that just jump out at you when you least expect them. Like watching the sun actually set, from the balcony at the Oak Manor building at POR. Or watching Diane get picked to be on the stage for INDY Jones. ( I stilll wished they had mixed her up with the "plant" that gets beat up), or finding out you have been upgraded to a balcony room at the Dolphin. Yes, I love those little surprises.
And then there was last night. After an hour and a half reading and then multi quoting, as I was submitting, I got the "This page cannot be displayed " message. And then I was kicked back into AOL, and all was lost. Now, I've lost stuff before, but never that late in the ball game. Then there was today.
I just found out that tomorrow is my last day. How sweet! The new owners were there, but they were more interested in getting the machines that go with the product line out of there, than they were in talking to employees. Not that it matters that much, I would have to relocate to the Milwaukee area, and , well, I'm sorry, that's the WRONG direction that I want to go. And that's IF I was offered a job, which techincally hasn't happened yet. Lotsa luck trying to figure it all out on your own, without us. Which now leads us to clearing out all our tools.
Trust me, these tool boxes weigh a ton.
And, oh yes, I got the "twinge" helping my buddy load up his stuff in a van.
I guess I'll find out the damage when the two vikes I just took where off, I was kinda of trying to head it off at the pass. Anyway, we are seriously considering moving that stupid Dec. trip up to next week, and doing our recon work then, before we end up too broke. Like I said, the only constant here lately in our household is incontinence.
Uh, that probably didn't come out right. heh
Jaime, your worst nightmare may come true, we might actually be there when you are!
And so, on with the show!
I soooo did not need to know that! My mother lives north of Tampa in one of those said-communities and well.... eewwwwww!
Now I have to go read Nebo's update - hopefully it will erase the thought of my mother going out on a bender in her golf cart and coming home with... nope, can't even type it!
Wow, Nicole, I can't believe you left me with that much material for a good liine, but I have to resort to the old adage, "no mother jokes", although it's killing me. But we all know what it's like when you have to put your fingers in your ears and start doing the "la la la " thing, cuz you don't even want that image to enter your mind. You know that image; of your mom lying on the chaise lounge with a martini, looking coyly up at the guy with the bermuda shorts and the work boots on, asking him if he'd like a nightcap, and then,,,,, yeah, good thing you were able to block that out of your mind.
Okay, Nebo.
We just got home from vacation today, and my husband is looking at me, trying to figure out why I feel I must rush to the computer to tell Nebo that we almost got taken out by a very tall, very heavy, maniacally driven mousekeeping cart at the Pop Century!!!!
You were right to warn me.

Those things are mighty scary!!!
Yo, triple Z, I'm so glad you got to meet Killdozer. Hope nobody was hurt , and once again, it happened at POP Century. Were you in the sixties building like us?
Your lives are like a soap opera. I can't believe I missed all the excitement.
Marking my spot on page 53.
Here's to reading about bigger and better things.
Monica, if this is a soap opera, can I bring Erica with me on the next trip?
My luck I'll get stuck with David Canary.

Hello Nebo,
I'm a long time lurker who has really enjoyed your trip report. I finally had to come out of lurkdom to join in.
In 75 I was 21.
I thought I was the only one who LOVED that song. I was so happy when I finally downloaded it somewheres online.
Thank you for brightening our days!
Scrooge, glad you came out of hiding, I was a long time lurker myself. Hey , Unc, glad you agree with me on "Tomorrow's Child". I liked that ending to Spaceship Earth better than the newer fiber optic ending, I find that boring. Yes, "Simon" does a good job, but I miss Walter Chronkite.
Ok, two points for anyone that gets' the "Simon" reference.
Bye Uncle, say hi to Aunt Edna for me.
Hi Nebo

Another longtime lurker. Really enjoying your report. I have to be careful not to Laugh out loud when I'm reading it at work!
I have that song Tomorrow's Child. It's on the anniversary CD they put out lasts fall. It's a great cd with songs from all the rides on it.
I was 15 in 1975, TFI!
Hey scrappy, have you been at my company lately? Is that how you got your name? And good for you, another Tomorrow's CHild lover. You know, I used to have the entire SE, Horizons , and World of Motion on a Vcr tape, that I made the first trip down there. Yeah, my first trip there I saw everything in black an white, there was no color viewfinders back then, but darned if we can find that tape now. And I really, really miss Horizons. I was told by a cast member once, that the reason it had to come down, was that the entire pavillion was sinking, it was built on a "soft" spot. But there is a certain Disney employee that I have a hunch is going to correct me.
Thanks for joining scrappy.
I am proud to be in the company I am...Jaime, utahmama and me are all the same age!
Uh huh, yep, right, ok,
Your all turning forty. Just like Jack Benny always said he was 39.
Well, I'll at least admit it. I turned forty two years ago.
