Still Feeding Nebo: The may trip final chapter pg 122, Dec. 31

I agree, Nebo replays of classics are great, you can do those anytime.

A replay is better than no report, and really, it's always fresh to me (as I have a memory like a sieve!)

I'll have to pm Kay about her replay on your trippie, LOL!

Ok, I can take a hint. Even though a couple of you like the rerun, well, the advertisers are pulling out. Honest, wasn't my fault, gonna go over to Photo buck now and see if my albums are back up and running. THEY HAD JUST BETTER BE!
So I'll have new material tomorrow.
Hopefully, I'll be able to get back Ipana Toothpaste, they were always a good sponsor,,,, and Mr. Machine, and Kent cigarettes. Yep, don't want to lose those guys for good.

From the letter I got, looks like I lost "Crispy Critters" for good though. :confused3

What do you just keep doing it 'til ya get it right?

You're right, that's the only movie that came with reruns when it premiered.

Finally, we're off to Coranado.

Springs that is.

Swimming pools,

Movie stars.

Or at least honest folks at check in, and friendly folks at check out.

We decided to bring our buggage with us, and it turned out to be a very wise move. Disney's transfer service is great, you just don't know when it's comiing, that's all.

Our request was for a second floor, standard, in the cabana section.

Ok, STEP RIGHT UP PLACE YOUR BETS WHO SAYS RANCHOS. I GOT RANCHOS RANCHOS RANCHOS, CASITAS CASITAS. CASITAS 3RD FLOOR GOING ONCE, TWICE,,,,,,,, SOLD, CASITAS 3RD FLOOR!

I let Diane off out in front, she got started while I parked the car. Our usual routine.

After a certain amount of time passed, I go in and join her. This is when she's supposed to say "We're all set, got the second floor over looking the pool".
I see her standing at a window, talking to a woman behind the counter, but her hands are moving.

Moving hands are never a good sign.

Yep, I was right. Just as I walk up, I hear the woman say she's going to get the manager, and I look and see some red coming into Diane's cheeks.

"WHat's going on, hon,,,,,?"

"They say they don't have anysmoking roomsthatthey'l giveoutanymorebecause they're allgoing nonsmokingandthey needthe time torenovatealltherooms, even though Itold themthat thedateisforJune1st,not inMay. "

"Ok, ok, we'll straighten this out."

And I pointed to a line in the confirmation sheet. This shouldn't have been there anyway, since they never guarantee a room, but there it was.

"Guaranteed smoking room."

Just then a little elderly woman came up, smiled, a warm and fuzzy smile, and said, "I understand you'd like a room?"

"That all depends," I said, "what are my choices?"

"Well, yes, or no."

Damn, she was goood!

"Im sorry", she replied, "a little communication gap, that's all."
"We have a smoking room on the first floor, will that be ok for you two?"

"That would be just wonderful", I smiled back at her. "I knew when the got the right person involved, this would all be straightened out."

"Oh, and it looks like your room is available now."
Diane rolled her eyes.

"How did someone as young as you get to be the manager already at a Disney resort?" "

She just smiled back at me and started giving instrucions to the other girl back there.

Meanwhile Diane's got her finger in her mouth making the "gack" sound.

I gave her the elbow.

"Oh, and by the way, you've been upgraded to a pool view!"

"Why thank you Rose, you are much too kind."

Diane has now moved down a bit, and is banging her forehead against the counter.

"And if you have any problems or questions, just come and see me."

"Well, I would, but,,,, " and I nodded over at Diane.

"Oh, young man!"

So we got a first floor pool view.

"Guess it pays sometimes to have a man present, huh? Looks like I got there just in the nick of time."

"Oh shut UP!"

Ok, room view shot coming up, this time from actually standing a bit inside the room.

You can't do much better than that!

On the other side of the pool was the wallkway, beach and lake. We were also right by a "cutthrough" in the building, that went to the parking lot, so it ws just a short walk to the car to unload the stuff. And with the ice machine right around the corner.

I even liked our room number 9111. Real easy to remember.
By 10:45 we were done unloading, and I was done unpacking.

Diane was just warming up. She also has to rearrange the furniture everytime.

I was getting antsy, so I took a walk upstairs to see what kind of other views we could have gotten. It turned out we really got lucky alright. Most of the rooms upstairs that didn't face the pool or lake faced the parking lot. And the ones that didn't, if you were anywhere near a corner of the building, those rooms were pretty much blocked in with an ornamental lattice, that blocked out pretty much everything. Except lots of noise from extremely loud main air conditioner units .

This was still going to be a pretty busy day for us, even with checking out and checking into a new resort behind us.

We still have a counter service meal left, and some snacks, so today's dinner is in Pepper Market. Then it's off to Fort Wilderness, where I reserved a golf cart just to ride around the campgrounds and check it out. And finally, on to Magic Kingdom for EMH. But we still had time left, and I like to walk around the resorts when we get there.

We walked throught the pool area, and started out to the main pool.

07-04-2007-31.jpg

As we were walking along the beach, I stopped. Then she stopped to see what I was looking at.

"Indy, why does the sand move?"

She looked a little closer. "Oh my gosh, it's Bugs!"

"Bugs, I hate bugs. Why'd it have to be bugs?"

It was like there was a million sand flies, all flying about 6 inches over the sand. It did NOT make you want to go and climb into a hammock.

We leave the Cabanas behind, and the path turns more nonthemed.

05-30-2007-38.jpg

The main pool, which I dearly love, especially early on a hot morning, is pretty empty. My biggest temptation is to not order some fries at Siesta, the snack bar there. They are the best fries in all of Disney. And, no, not Mcdonalds fries. These are more like the big steak fries, and it's a huge order for only about 2.50. But we're going down to eat soon, and this is yet again, another reason why I don't like the dining plan.

It's bad enough having to constantly make ressies for your table services, and then have to plan the parks accordingly, but when you have the "use it or lose it" thing going against you too, no, I'd rather eat when I want to out of pocket.

05-30-2007-39.jpg

And onward.
From there, into the Ranchos. I kind of like the theming here, more than Smidgy, but it's really far from just about everywhere else at the resort.

07-04-2007-29.jpg

I even like the quiet pool here the best of all of them.

07-04-2007-30.jpg

As we enter the Casitas, we're looking straight across the lake now at the cabanas.

05-30-2007-41.jpg

Now, before somebody catches me on it. There's a chance that some of these shots are from a year and a half ago. I can't read the date on the little tiny avatar pics when I pull them out of Photo bucket. And I'm too afraid to enlarge them now and maybe screw up the computer with info overload.

so just bear with me here on the tour.

Maybe it's because we stayed at CBR first, and the cabana section is too similar, but it didn't take long, even with our great room, to wish we were back in the Casitas. In the cabanas, what you see is what you get. There are no hidden gardens, nothing there that you might miss.

You got your buildings, with a sandy beach in front of it.
That's it.
Nothing wrong with it, but the casitas are a whole different aniimal.

When we stayed there in our first free dining experience in 05, as usual, you find the shortest way to the food court, or pool, and you stick with it. This usually meant just following the path by the lake.
One night on the way to dinner at Pepper Market, I said what's down this way? Let's try this and see what happens.

Next thing we knew we were in little courtyards , with fountains, and it was beautiful! Then we cut through the building, and now in another courtyard with reflecting pools.

Then another, and none of this is visible from the main path. That's why I love the casitas so much.

"I didn't know this was here." Did you know this was here? " I didn't know this was here. "

That's what we just kept saying to each other.

And this was after we had already been staying there 3 nghts already.
From that point on, every night when we got back we made a point to go and have a final cocktail or smoke by one of the fountains.
And they're really pretty at night.

07-04-2007-28.jpg

07-04-2007-33.jpg

Whoops, I missed another from the ranchos.

05-30-2007-31.jpg

And finally, back to where we started out.

05-30-2007-33.jpg

05-30-2007-32.jpg

This is going to sound really strange, but as nice as our room was, especially being right by the pool, we could still find fault with it. It was after about being there for four days, that she said to me, "You know what's strange about this room?"

Well, I didn't know where she was going with this, but I admitted there was something that felt funny staying here.

And she filled it in. Perfectly.

"We're right next to the small pool, if we look around the corner through the building, we can see our car, the ice machine is right here, we don't have to walk up any stairs, IT'S LIKE STAYING AT A REALLY NICE MOTEL 6!

And she was right. Maybe cuz the themeing is pretty bland in the cabanas, but it didn't really feel like we were in a special "Disney" resort.

See? Some people will complain about anything!

Well, i'm getting nervous wondering if all my pics will go through, so I'm saying goodnight, and Godbless.

yep, seeing the pictures now in lifelike size, I can see that I while standing in the Ranchos section, I changed my shirt and grew a moustache while I was there. That's not because the picture came from a different trip, it just takes Diane that long sometimes to shoot!:lmao: :rotfl:

Gee, give her more of a chance to practice, man! :lmao:

I really enjoyed this installment, Nebo.:goodvibes

I have always wanted to stay at CS, but have been afraid after hearing reports of long, long walks to rooms at the far reaches of the resort. But it just seems so gorgeous, we might have to take a chance!

Of course, the fact that you changed shirts AND grew a moustache during a walk around the resort seems to be proof that it is even bigger than I feared. :lmao:

Moving hands are never a good sign.

Is Smidgy part Italian :confused3 :lmao: (I am italian so no flames please)

WOW, I can't believe I missed your update yesterday!

Nice save on the check-in :rotfl:

Loved the pictures and update!

Too funny how you schmoozed Rose at check-in! I've had two glasses of wine already tonight, so I didn't notice the mustache and shirt change :ssst:. I reallllllllly wish I'd gotten the name of that Riesling I had in Germany at Epcot; mmm that was good. This Biltmore House is not too bad, though...

I hope your room wasn't too much like a Motel 6--maybe it was just the first floor location? But it was in Disney!

Time to refill my glass...(I need a little wine glass smilie).

A little late, been real busy. Loved the new update and pics.

"it just takes Diane that long sometimes to shoot!" Better watch it or it won't be a camera she's shooting you with next time.

Go Bears, hey they've won more than the Rams, (but just barely)
Angela

The Coronado was our first family resort and fell in love with it. The kids loved the pool and slide, so did the adults.

Gee, give her more of a chance to practice, man! :lmao:

Marie, she's had plenty of shooting practice. She kicks my butt every tiime now on Buzz Lightyear, but put a camera in her hands and it take ten minutes a shot!

I really enjoyed this installment, Nebo.:goodvibes

:happytv: :happytv: I TOLD YOU IT"S HUGE! The cabanas are the closest to all the main stuff, one side of the casitas are close to the main shops and food, the other end closer to the main pool. The ranchos however are in Georgia!

Is Smidgy part Italian :confused3 :lmao: (I am italian so no flames please)

Janet, even now I wouldn't take the dining plan, even if it was for free.
Since they changed the rules, and eliminated the appetizer and the gratuity for 2008, it's no longer worth it. ANd they only dropped the price a buck!

After adding up the reciepts for the recent sept. trip that included free dining, it came to over a thousand bucks for the two of us. However, under the new rules, the "free" dining would have cost us over 280 dollars.

WOW, I can't believe I missed your update yesterday!

Nice save on the check-in :rotfl:

Loved the pictures and update!

Yeah, alls' well that ends well. The ironic thing is, that even though we got a smoking room, under the new rules the smoking section is about 15 paces from our door. At Pop it was 114 steps, and at Riverside the nearest spot was 148 steps. Yes, I counted.

by the way, do you know how many smoking areas are in the asmusic?
3! That's IT! Why only 3? It must look like the Chicago Fire in those areas!

It sounds like you need to join Marita on her couch. (her siggy). And to think I once blew out my knee trying to win a bottle of Boonesfarm doing the Limbo.

Hmm, interesting, some adventourous ancestors you have :3dglasses

Adventureous. Right. That's why she walks funny, talks funny, and can't hold her liquor. (just teasin honey, put the spear down)

Great pictures and report

You know Goofyfan, I had to read that about 3 times before the nickel dropped in. Yep, you got me. I have once again dangled my participle in public, without even realizing it.

Yes, when I come home some days and she says she "missed" me, you never quite know how to take it. :rotfl:

The Coronado was our first family resort and fell in love with it. The kids loved the pool and slide, so did the adults.

Nebo love pool slide there too. Ditto Smidgy. It's the best at all the disney resorts. Funny how folks either love or hate CS. We are in the "love it" section.

~Click on the photo below to view all of my CSR resort photos~

I really enjoyed staying there too.
My question to you Herr Nebo is why do you never get your requests? Well hardly ever...I asked for Cabanas and early check in and got 8A -prime bldg- *and* our rooms were ready at 8am. just sayin. :duck:

...that's my DBIL btw...
