Still don't get if online check-in messes up my TP fax request

Subject line says it all, I suppose. I have Touring Plans send in my room/view request. It's not clear to me if those who do online check-in get put into another room assignor system (automatic, maybe, instead of an actual room assignor person). So do I do it or not? I'd love to have the process streamlined when we arrive since it will already be late in the evening (7:30pm). Even when I've done the online check-in in the past, not only did I never receive an email to go straight to my room, but my faxed-in requests weren't met (actually go the opposite of what I requested) and I had to go to the front desk anyway. We stay at BWI, if it matters at all, and I'm not listing any room or view requests on-line, just doing the check-in part.

Thanks in advance!

Online check in has no impact on putting in room requests with Touring Plan whatsoever.
They aren't even providing the resorts with the same things.
Touring Plans is giving the resort an idea of what room you'd like
Online check in is setting up your info with the resort as to how you'd like to pay and what time you'll arrive. It may even allow them to text you your room number so you can skip stopping at the front desk and go straight to your room. If you don't do online check in you will not be able to get your room number via text. In order to even have a chance for it, you much do online check in

I do online check-in and use TP to fax my room request(s). I've had a lot of success with it. I rarely used the room request section of online check-in (when it was working) because like you, I found this never worked out the way I wanted it to. The TP faxes are still just requests, nothing is a guarantee, but I use them every trip and almost always get at least one part of my request. It might help that I'm not requesting anything too specific. I do online check-in every time for the convenience.

I've also done the TP fax request multiple times (at least 5) as well as online check-in. I keep my online check-in requests simple and consistent with my TP fax (e.g., upper floor, balcony, etc., depending where we're staying). I've typically gotten a room close to what I've requested, so I don't see one canceling out the other. When I've checked in CL, the CMs have mentioned that they have my room requests noted (range of room numbers), so the online check-in did not override what I sent via TP. The key is probably not providing contradicting requests (subject to availability, of course...it's always possible that what we want is not an option for our check-in day; that's why it's just a request and not a guarantee).

Also, I have a feeling you must not realize, Disney no longer has the option for you to give them a room request. That feature has been turned off for now

Thank you. I do realize the request portion of the online check has been disabled for a while now. I guess I was more concerned that doing online check in would put my reservation into an automated system that would assign my room and then my TP fax request would be ignored.

Nope, not at all.
