I know that DCL tried to put a stop hiding ducks but is it still happening on the ships?
Any recent cruisers have feedback?

This was posted by a CM several months ago:

This was recently updated onboard but not on the website yet, following shoreside visits to various ships so your mileage may vary depending on the crew members and their managers if they’ve been trained on the updates:
  • A Guest may bring rubber ducks onboard. However, pool toys (e.g., rubber ducks) cannot be used in the pools.

Note: Guests cannot hide things, such as rubber ducks, in staterooms or public areas.

In reality- People are still hiding them. I think DCL CM's are supposed to throw them out if they find them but that is going to be up to the crew member- some do, some don't

The only ones I really have issue with are when people hide those little tiny ducks. They look like candy and are a choking hazard on a ship full of kids. I know some were gluing magnets to the bottom and hiding them and that is even more dangerous if swallowed. Everyone does their best to keep an eye on their littles but accidents do happen.

We found a few hidden ducks on our June 8th Fantasy cruise, so some are still doing it. Wasn't to the extent we saw in 2022 though. We stuck with pixie dusting them instead, as did most others.

My son found one hidden duck on our June cruise (compared to 4 or 5 the year before). We also had two ducks pixie dusted at our door, which I think is a nice alternative for those who want to share ducks but follow the rules.

On the May TA I saw some cm handing out ducks to kids. I overheard one of them say that they have to collect them when they see them but try to pass them on in strad of tossing (this was at the coffeebar on deck 4)

That's because they're special. Rules/policies don't apply to them.
Also because some people have built business around the selling of ducks to cruise passengers in cruise groups. They are the ones going around the different groups telling people its ok to buy ducks and bring them on cruises, as they make money from it.

Actually, I think it’s because DCL has done a very bad job of saying that they are banned. If you ask directly at Guest Services you will get multiple different answers- some saying it’s perfectly fine

Also, I can’t find them on the prohibited item list on the main website or anything about hiding them.

I don’t participate in the duck nonsense, but DCL isn’t really being clear either.

Yes people still hide them. Should they be? No.
Crew are supposed to throw them away if they find them. Some do. Others turn a blind eye or direct kids to them to find them as it is more effort to pick them up and dispose of them than just ignoring them (unless they are somewhere unsafe). Some crew also collect them and keep them. I had a few duck friends in my cabin last contract

When I went in February our server gave my kids ducks on their last night. They felt so special and they're teens! They still have them displayed.
