How long do the crowds linger after New Year's Eve? We are now thinking of changing (once again) our travel dates to Jan 1-8th. So, now I am wondering what the parks will look like during those dates? Also, if I am not mistaken the 1st puts us back into value season...can anyone confirm or deny? Thanks for the help!!

EMPTY... the parks will be EMPTY.

The crowds die off as early as January 1. On the first you will still see a nice size crowd, however nowhere near the crowds from the previous week. As you get to the 2nd, 3rd you will notice that you are at WDW during the PERFECT time.

(and yes, that is when Value Season returns)

I've been several years right after the first (once previously I checked in on the first and will again this year). I'll never forget the response of an Epcot Friendship boat driver when I commented on how quickly the crowds seemed to be gone. She said that from what she'd seen, it seemed as if everyone blew all their money NYE, had a big party, then didn't have any money to stay any longer and left right away. Great for those of us going on January 1.

We will be arriving jan 2nd. Since K-12 schools will start back up
on the 3rd... I anticipate everyone leaving as we are arriving!!! WOOOOO-HOOOOOOO!!!!!

MK was still very crowded on Jan. 1 two years ago. There was a dad with a video camera in the middle of Main Street saying, "She said it would be empty today. She said everyone would be gone." It was hillarious. We still had a great time and rode plenty of rides with fastpass.

Universal was not too terribly crowded on Jan. 1st this last year and Islands of Adventure was empty on the 2nd.
