Our newspaper (front page) is saying to stop, but I just called the post office and they are still sending them out. (The postmaster even checked his latest e-mail to see if there was a stoppage.) I am hoping to get a box out tomorrow. He did say that they are taking a long time to get to their destination.

We received a letter yesterday that was mailed March 8th. Good luck, I'm sure it will be appreciated. :)

I sent two boxes yesterday - not a word was said by postal employees.

My son is 100 miles from Bagdhad and as of yesterday (per the embedded reporter) they received a huge bundle of mail and packages. :D

There was an article in the Wall Street Journal today about care packages and what the Marines have been receiving and would like to continue to receive (bubble gum was one thing mentioned). I did not read it myself, DH emailed me a sub-list of items because he knows this has been a topic near and dear to my heart lately. I would hope that if packages were no longer acceptable, that the news media would report this to us. They seem to report everything else. Unless I hear it from an official of some sort, my packages are going to be continuing. Just my thoughts.

I took packages to the post office yesterday and ran into a lady whose husband has been in Kuwait for 11 months. (actually he was somewhere else the 1st couple of months) She was sending a LARGE package, so I will keep sending.

I asked at the post office today and they said all is fine. They mailed my packages out. I asked what happens if the mail stops or packages are not allowed to go through, he checked his email and said he doesn't see that happening. The packages will just "follow them" until they receive it, so I picked up more boxes and large "puffy" envelopes.

Spoke with sis last night about anything that should go in our package (since the major has "put her on a strict budget" ha!) and she said anything that seemed right. The only thing he had specifically mentioned was reading material. And just yesterday afternoon base support personnel were sending out emails to families to continue sending - they'll get eventually!
