Still a sling bag?

Ok since it’s 2020 just thought I’d ask. Is the on board gift STILL a sling bag and an oversized luggage tag for gold?

Someone PLEASE say no, it’s now.........

I'm with you. I strongly dislike both items! The sling bag never stays on my shoulder and the luggage tag is too big and smells like oil. We've given ours away to new cruisers every time. PLEASE, DCL, bring back the regular backpack!! A couple of drink cups with lids and reusable straws would also be super nice since they no longer stock lids or straws at the drink stations.

As of my 2019 Christmas week Disney Fantasy cruise last week, it is still the sling bag and an oversized blue whatever it is for Gold Castaway Club members.

I left it in perfect condition in the stateroom when I departed. Otherwise, it would have been in a landfill forever.

They should really change these things a little more often. I would recommend every 2-3 years.

I would rather have a tea towel instead of "another" sling bag. I wish Disney would change their "thank you for returning" gifts every year or two. We have received the same gift since 2015...

Interesting. In January 2016, our 5 night cruise on the Magic we received a zippered, Canvas Beach Bag that we still use on a regular basis. In 2017 we received the Sling bag for the first time.

There was a time that different ships/itineraries got different bags. I think that changed a couple of years ago.

We'll be on the Fantasy in 2 weeks. I keep hoping to see a response that they've changed to a different bag. Sling bag is ok, but already have 2. This will be our first as gold, so looking forward to getting the luggage tags, although I doubt we'll use them.

Same. We’ve left ours behind twice now. Maybe that’s why the gift hasn’t changed in so long - DCL is regifting.

Instead of leaving it behind, maybe gift it to someone new on the cruise, or to a friend at home?

I wish they had a few different gifts and we could select which one we wanted when we booked. As previous poster suggested a tea towel, I’d be happy with something like that now I’ve got multiples of the bags. refillable water bottles would also be useful.

I love sling bags, but one or two is enough.
We've received 7 now. I did give one to DD and 2 to DS's family. I always take them and find someone that wants them.
DS liked the luggage tags and took 4 of those.

I never used the little draw sting bags or the beach bags

All you repeat cruisers who don't want the bags, leave them behind, throw them away, I'm sure there are many first time cruisers who would love the bag. It just seems such a missed opportunity, that a little bit of forward thinking and your unwanted bag could be a big deal to a first time cruiser

As long as the bags are being given to someone (taken off the ship) DCL will probably continue to give them. Once a large number of them start being "left behind" maybe DCL will get the message that we would like something else.

Now, I've not received the sling bag, but when we first started cruising it was a red drawstring bag, and we wound up with around 6 or 7 of those.


And, of course, the ubiquitous beach bag - we got around 5 or 6 of those
