Sticking with the Radisson

I had considered switching from Radisson to Ron Jons (night before), based on what I have read here, but due to our particular situation, I'm going to stay at Radisson.

We don't arrive at MCO until 5:37pm, which means we wouldn't arrive at Port Canaveral until 7pm at the earliest. That wouldn't leave much time to enjoy Ron Jons, and the Radisson pool looks inviting enough for the few hours before sundown.

Plus, as I understand from another recent thread, there's a TRAXX and fast food spots within walking distance, and the Radisson is now offering more breakfast options.

And finally, we are a party of 6, got the 1-bedroom suite at Radisson for 7/2/04 for $149, they've already allowed me to pre-reserve the 10:30 am shuttle to the port, so I really see no reason to switch to Ron Jons.

Am I making the correct decision, given our situation?

The Radison was fantastic. The pool was great and we got on our shuttle at the promised time. There were 22 of us. Don't sweat it!

We enjoyed the Raddison very much as well. Unfortunately the day we arrived all we could do was look at the pool, it was 50 degrees:eek: We are used to the cold, but not for swimming in it. I'd say you made a good choice.

Sounds good for you. Last year when we were at the Radisson the pool was closed for a private party that night! But the pool did look cool.
We fly into Sanford at around 10 AM so we will get more out of our day, plus I got three studio rooms at Ron Jons for $97 plus tax each (as opposed to $119 at the Radisson for regular rooms--holiday weekend). DH and DBIL will drop the rest of us and the luggage off and return the vans to Hertz, then come back to the terminal.

We stayed there on Sat. April 17th. everything was really nice and the Budget rental car drop off is a 5- 10 minute walk away. I would definetly stay there again.

We are staying at the Radisson again also. I was going to book Ron Jon's but decided against it when I realized that we would be getting into the port until around midnight the night before. No need to pay for all the cool things at Ron Jon's if we aren't going to be able to us it!!

Plus the Radisson was a good place to stay before. We had a standard room last time and it was clean. This time we are in a suite........I am sure that will be okay too!

:flower1:

::MickeyMo BWBUDDY, We have decided to keep our Radisson res also, for the same reasons. And we were able to schedule all 11 of us on the 10:30 shuttle. I think they will keep everything nice w/ the Ron Jon competion. Another reason I didn't want to switch to Ron Jons was I was afraid the next am the kids might not want to leave !!

I think you are right on target with your choice. We stayed at the Radisson last year for 1 night had a great seafood buffet dinner the night before and just took our own cab over to the port. The kids swam and then had a ball with the Jacuzzi tub before bed.
I would love to try Ron Jon's next year, but like you if I can't have at least a whole day there, I think I'd go back to the Radisson.

Have a great time. March 2005 can't come soon enough!:hyper:

HEY the Rad is ok....

and the pool is open late we have been in the hot tub...
after dark...

We decided to stay with Radisson as well, although Ron Jon would be less expensive per nite if we got the studio...just DH and I. But, as I posted here a few times before, laundry kept us at the Radisson. We are doing 5 nites at WDW before cruising, so we gotta do laundry! RJ studios do not have washing machines, and there are no other laundry facilities at RJ (except in the 1 and 2 bedroom rooms.) Then I figured the cost of the RJ shuttle, and the fact we wouldn't get to port until 10:00 or so....blah, blah, but you get the point. It is one night!

ok, so what is Ron Jon's, where is it, and how does it compare to the Radisson?????

I had a lot of apprehension about the Radisson after reading these boards, but it was just fine. The room was big and clean. Pool was great and so was the hot tub in the room. The only negative was the frenetic front desk. They need to have better orgainzation up there.

The quote I got from Ron Jon's was more expensive -of course it maybe because it is Thanksgiving week. We decided just to stick with the Raddison since it just a place to sleep overnight after being at Space Center all day and getting on the ship as early as possible.
